Maitre'd or DOC? Same thing?

MrsNerd, on August 20, 2016 at 6:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

My ceremony and reception will be held at a venue, and the events are basically run by the catering company (they have contracts with different venues). Each wedding gets a maitre'd who basically is the go-to person for the day. Has anyone had this before? My question is, does it sound like this person acts as a DOC?

This is a really hard question to answer because we don't know the details of your venue/contracts. Why don't you ask them?

The maitre'd and catering staff will typically only help with things that are catering-related. This is still a lot, but unless they specify with you, they won't be handing other wedding coordination tasks and situations.

@RATR I realize that was vague. I had just never really heard either of those terms before I came to WW, so I thought the question would make more sense than it did haha. I would ask him, but I can't get him to nail down a time for a phone call *angry emoji*

I'm with Amanda-- I'm willing to bet your Maitre D is only in charge of food. If the flowers are late, or the DJ is drunk, or your BP wanders off, your DOC will be on it and your MD would be saying, "Not my circus, not my monkeys".
