Mailing an invite to Canada (from the US)?

Joy, on March 17, 2012 at 9:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Has anyone sent an invite to Canada from the US? I am curious not only on how much postage to use to get it there (our invites are standard letter size) but also what to do about stamping the return envelope for the RSVP card. If use US stamps on the envelope for the RSVP card would the guest I'm sending it to be able to send it back to me from Canada?

Check with your post office. It will take a bit more postage, both ways.

Here is a link to the USPS

You can check USPS online. Type in the weight and destination and it'll tell you. I know a 0.45 cent invitation is 0.85 cents to Canada.

Just go to the post office and ask… I had to send a save the date to Germany and it was a buck.

I only had 1 invite going to Canada and I put 2 stamps on it (US invites used 1 stamp). Since it was only one, I didn't put postage on the RSVP because we agreed they would RSVP online.

Thanks ladies! It's sounding like I'll be ok with 2 stamps to get the invite there, but after doing some more research I found that the postage must be the same as the country of origin (meaning I would need to get my hands on Canadian stamps for the RSVP card, which USPS doesn't carry). Since it's just the one I'm strongly considering not putting postage on the RSVP...

Contact your post office. They will let you know the correct postage to use.

They have to stamp RSVP and I think it was $1.15-1.20 for the invite. It was $.65 for the us postage.
