Mailbox for guest book and cards

Kaylee, on July 26, 2018 at 1:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Hi All!

Happy wedding planning! I’ve been looking at guestbook/card box options for awhile now and didn’t really love anything until I saw this mailbox and postcards photo! I’d like guests to write a note for us on postcards and drop in the mailbox, but also want to use this as our card box as well. I’m looking for suggestions on how to make this work. 2 signs both next to the mailbox? Thanks!

Cute idea for a guest book alternative but I would not recommend it for a card box because it is not secure. Your card box needs to be secure so that once someone puts a card in no one can remove it. There are lots of people around on your wedding day that you won't know - if not from your wedding guests (plus ones, etc.) then certainly from the various vendors. Don't make it easy for them to discreetly take cards from your box.

I think it's a cute idea! I'm not having a lock on my card box. my guest list is friends and family and I know they wouldn't take anything. And yeah you could put two signs

Good idea! I didn’t think about that. I will look for one with a lock.

I would second the lock on the card box. Besides friends and family there are vendors .... there have been a couple of stories shared on this site regarding missing envelopes. Better safe than sorry.

I'm using an old bird cage as my card box. It's also going to be in a very open area where everyone can see. I'd hope my vendors, who I'm paying wouldn't go in there and try to take MORE money from me lol.

That is so pretty! And I know right? You'd expect the vendors to be honest and not do that, but there are still some people like that out there.

Definitely secure your card box - too many stories of cards going missing. Sometimes thieves will scope out reception venues and blend in to take the box. It happens unfortunately.

How should I secure the cage? I have to open it to get cards inside and I've already purchased it.

I’ve read somewhere that you can buy a heart shape lock and lock the cage. It will still look nice.
