Mail Possibly Lost My Invitations

Jennifer, on June 29, 2022 at 9:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
It’s been over a week since I dropped off my invitations at the Post Office to be hand cancelled and no one in my family has received them yet. I live in a small town and the lady seemed pretty annoyed that I wanted them hand cancelled when I dropped them off even though I added extra postage for them and everything. I spent a lot of time hand making the cards and inserts and hand writing all the envelopes. I’m not going through that again. Worst case scenario, I’m just going to get envelopes from Magnet Street or something and get printed envelopes, but I will try going to the Post Office at the end of the week if no one has gotten them yet by then. Does anyone else have favorite invitation suites like Magnet Street?

Oh boy! Is there a way you can check with the Post Office to make sure they were sent out? I know there has been a delay in mail delivery. A week plus is a bit long especially in a small town. I’d recommend checking with the Post Office before spending money on more invitations.

Oh my gosh, now I’m worried. I just dropped my invitations off at the post yesterday and asked the girl if they could be hand stamped. She just looked blankly at me and said “sure” and walked away.
Now I’m going to be on pins & needles waiting to hear if anyone received theirs 🫣

I didn’t mean to worry you lol! If it makes you feel better, my mom did receive hers yesterday. I think the other person is right and there’s just a delay in mail delivery atm. It’s also possible they didn’t get to hand canceling them until the day or 2 after or something.

The USPS is a hot mess these days. It took 3 weeks for the first person to receive my "save the dates" so I mailed my invites super early and the first person got theirs in less than 24 hours. I'm glad yours started trickling in. Hopefully they all get to where they need to be!

Hi Jennifer I have and still are having problems with the postal service office. I have told that they haven't received them or they tell us that they have mailed them back to us. Because I as well put the postage on all of my invitations so they can just fill out and drop it in the mailbox. So I have made a way that we made an announcement for them to text us y/n and if yes type there name and there plus one. So far it's working but now still receiving my RSVP card back a few here none there but so we don't lose track they get typed and checked

Glad you figured it out. No one in our post office will acknowledge hand cancelling. I asked two different employees about it.

Wow! That’s really weird! But I think some post offices don’t do it. It does consume a lot of their time I think

Just as a heads up - my parents live in a very small town and they don't actually get their mail every day anymore, closer to every other day. I think this is due to labor shortage in their area for the post? But who knows. The USPS isn't the world's most reliable anymore, sadly.

I think you'll be okay if they are starting to roll in. My STDs took forever, but everyone did end up getting them!
