Maid of Honor/bridesmaids proposals

Mary, on April 20, 2021 at 6:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

How did you "propose" to your maid of honor/bridesmaids? I want to ask them with a box filled with some things but not sure what to put in it. Please throw out ANY idea!

There’s a lot of options from pre-made to customizable on Etsy if you’re interested. They usually feature anything from wine/champagne insulated tumblers to candles, small jewelry, succulents, jewelry box, pens, chapstick, spa related items (bath bombs, salts) personalized cards, etc.

I put in shawls in one of the wedding colors, succulent candles, chapstick, a pen, a bracelet, nail polish in the other wedding color, a card with the date on it, a Scrunchie and hand cream. You can search on Etsy and find a ton of pre made options. I did that and then bought items individually! I bought white boxes from Amazon, it was ten boxes for like 9 dollars. And vinyls off Etsy with their names and “will you be my bridesmaid” or “maid of honor”. I tied it all together with ribbon from Amazon!

I actually just finished doing mine. I bought everything on Amazon. I included a “diamond” pen, a keychain that says brides tribe, a compact, a heart bracelet, a clearance notebook from Michael’s, and a scrunchie that has a tag with the will you be in my bridal party. I am including a handwritten card for each person individually and putting them in a box again from Amazon that says will you be my (whatever bridal party role). I will post a picture tomorrow but in all honesty for all of that stuff I paid maybe $100 total for 4 BM and many of the pre-made boxes on Etsy are like $35 a piece.

I had wooden boxes engraved with each person’s name. I then put a hand written note, chocolates, a bath bomb and a small gift that represented a hobby/memory we have shared together.

So we already asked our wedding party if they would be in our wedding but I wanted to sensitive something to kinda kick off the planning processing!
I'm sending my girls "I do crew" coffee travel mugs that are one of the wedding colors, navy blue nail polish (the main wedding color), "Bride tribe" notebooks and pens, a blinged out initial and heart eye emoji Keychain and a ring pop. Their box will say "I need something borrowed, something Blue, something old and definitely YOU. Let's make it offical, so glad you'll be my (maid of honor or bridesmaid)"
The men are getting "I do crew" shot glasses, socks that are one of the accent colors for the wedding, fruit roll up and smirk face keychains. Their box will say "I thought the text message okay buy noooo, Arlene said I had to step up my game. So you better roll up, suit up and be my (Groomsman or best man)."

Each box will also have a card with the wedding date, our location, the wedding website, wedding hash tag, wedding colors and a "meet the I do crew" section with everyone in the wedding parties name and role.

I did a tote bag for each girl and put in a small bottle of prosecco, a tritan plastic champagne glass, a fake flower, a heartfelt handwritten note, and a few photos of me with that person. This was pre-Covid, so I took each person out to lunch/coffee individually, my treat, and asked them.

I'll second Etsy, they have lots of various proposal boxes. Getting personalized gifts is also a way to go, i.e. sunglasses, note books, bracelets with their names, etc. I did Smartshow 3d videos for each of them, though, it was during the lockdown, so I didn't have much chance to meet them in person.

I asked each lady individually so they didn't feel pressured to say 'yes' to me!

Etsy is a great source for pre-made boxes and supplies for proposal boxes. I made mine myself.

I just got a brown craft box from hobby lobby and crinkled shredded paper to fill them with. I also wrote each a letter about how much they mean to me and why I would love for them to be in my bridal party.

Inside was a face mask, nail polish, ring pop, scrunchie, and a bath bomb. Nothing too expensive or crazy!

Instead of a box I did a bag with their name on it. Inside I put a necklace with a written note on it, a bottle of wine or sparkling juice depending if they drank or not, and a ring pop cuz it was a cute idea they all liked.

I didn't ask them, I told them lol. They are also my sisters and I'm only having 2. One sister already calls herself my beeyotch of honor and my youngest sister is wiccan. I made a little spa day theme box for them. Face masks (we love doing these together so I got a few fun ones, including myself), a flute, sparkling cider, a notebook to write notes in for the wedding or whatever, the scrunchie is also the color of my wedding (burgundy).
