Maid of Honor and Bridesmaid

Kayleecarthel, on April 25, 2019 at 3:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
How did y’all ask y’all’s MOH and bridesmaids to stand next to you at your wedding? I want to make it special. I don’t want to go crazy but something fun.

I had personalized robes made just for the girls to wear while they get ready on my wedding day that say "Maid of Honor", "Bridesmaid", etc. I got each one for $20 and bought gold sparkly boxes for each one. I decorated the inside of the lids and arranged the robes inside with the wording facing upright so that when they opened them it read "Blah, blah, blah… will you be my…". Altogether, each box cost roughly $25

I texted them first right after we got engaged, just with an estimate of time & price and everything to make sure they could do it. Then I sent formal proposal boxes in the mail. They were wood jewelry boxes with liquor shooters, nail polish, and hair ties that said "to have and to hold your hair back" and a little pamphlet with dress information & asking them! I included a makeup bag in my MOHs too.

Maid of honor, it was part of her Christmas gift. I had pictures from when we were little (known each other since 4 yrs old), and in the middle was a note. And of note had a post it asking her. We had previously joked about me asking her on a post it.

Matron of honor, lives out of state, I called her.

2 bridesmaids and 1 brideman: asked each in person.

I asked them at our engagement party and I had proposal boxes ready for them that I gave out at the party. It had a robe for getting ready, nail polish, lotion, face masks, and a card from me.

I gave them each a little card that had something along the lines of “I have found the man and I love and I would be honored to have you stand up with me as I say I do. Will you be my ___?”
in addition they each got a mug that fit their various personalities and a bottle of Love lotion from Bath and Body Works. I was going to do earrings too but one of them has super sensitive ears.

My situation was unique in that we started brainstorming our wedding a few months before our actual engagement. So as I was discussing or asking for opinions, I just kind of slid in "by the way, I would love for you to be with me as a bridesmaid". My best friend does live in a different state, so hers was via text, and she didn't mind at all. I am putting together a goodie bag for them as official gifts, it contains a canvas 'bride squad' tote, cosmetic case, metallic gold sunglasses with their name, and 'tie the knot' bangle (all for about $100 on davidsbridal.com).

I bought some personalized "Will You Be My Bridesmaid/MOH/etc" cards with their names from Etsy. I asked them each individually over dinner. The cards went over really well.

I love all the ideas. I’m thinking robes and makeup totes or big totes and maybe some little wine bottles or something.

I had cards made on Zazzle.com and then made a basket with a wine glass that had their name on it, a picture of us, and a information card with the colors, date, and location!

I made them each a box with a candle, ring dish, and card with crinkled paper. I had one card that was a scratch off asking if they will be my bridesmaid with a cute message instead. Then I had another card that was more of a personal note saying how much I value our friendship. I told no one and only one of them knew she would be a bridesmaid so everyone else was surprised!
