Macaron taste test

Emma, on October 1, 2018 at 11:53 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

We are considering macarons for our dessert table. My issue with them is that they are incredibly expensive for something so small. While I was perusing the frozen section at Kroger, I came across frozen macarons. I purchased those, for around $4/dozen. Then Iwent to a bakery and bought some there at $2.50 to 3.00 EACH and did a taste test. I put both in the fridge, one to defrost, one to chill, so they would be all the same temp. Results? I found no discernable difference between them! No difference in texture and fredhnessr. Some of the Kroger macaroons had better flavor the bakery macarons and visa versa. So I'm going with the ones from Kroger for a huge savings!!!!

I love this! So good to know. I love macarons (literally get them sent to m door every month) but they are expensive! I might have to check these out. We’re doing a macaron table at our wedding too.

Will your venue allow this? Our venue required all food that was served came from a licensed business.

Do you have a "Restaurant Depot" nearby? They have a huge box of frozen macarons that I'm planning to serve at my parties. Can't remember the price now, but might be worth checking out!

Would love to go to a Restaurant depot but it is only open ‘to the trade’. There’s s large sign saying so by the front door of the one near me and aldo states on their website. Bummer.

Yes, we are allowed to serve whatever we want. There is no food service where we are.

I’ve read that Trader Joe’s has some good ones, too.
