Loving Tan or St Tropez Self-tanner? Pictures?

alysmw, on October 9, 2018 at 12:54 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

Hi ladies! I am getting married at the end of March so I will not be naturally tan at that time. I am also not comfortable with going to a tanning bed so that is not an option for me. I've heard that Loving Tan or St Tropez are great self-tanners but they are pricey! I am willing to invest for a reliable, nice looking tan though. *Do you self-tan? What do you use? Did you self-tan for your wedding day? Do you have pictures?*

I self tan and use Isle of Paradise which is a new brand at Sephora. Its a bit cheaper than the two brands you listed above. I plan on getting a professional airbrushed spray tan for my wedding though.

Great to have you in the community, Lyss!

I've used St. Tropez self-tanner in the past for events. I unfortunately don't have any pictures to share, but I've found of all the self-tanners I've experimented with, it's the one that works the best with my skin!

I highly recommend either getting the St. Tropez Exfoliating Scrub (it often comes with it) or some sort of exfoliating scrub just to get the dead skin off before you apply! Sometimes the tanner can really stick to those "tougher" skin areas (like elbows and knee caps) and come out uneven!

I have used loving tan and the dupe for st.tropez which is st.moriz.

I used loving tan for a while, stopped because it is pricey. I liked it, I didn't really have any issues with it. The st.moriz worked pretty much the same as loving tan. I had a bottle of it for like 2 months ( maybe longer) and I tried to use it and it didn't keep the color, so those don't a long shelf life.

I have pics of how tan i was in st.moriz, i'll post a pic in a minute from my phone. I am about to cancel my tanning membership and start using that again.

I like the build the tan lotions because they are lotions first than have a little gradual tanner. Less likely to look orange but you gotta start like a week before if you're trying to get some true color

my recommendation: nutrohenia build a tan lotion. No gloves required 🙌🏻

I LOVE st. tropez, but i only like the 2 hr express. i tried the regular formula once and it didn’t work the same. if you’re worried about the price, ulta has a kit for $25 that comes with a small bottle, a mitt, exfoliator, and lotion. i strongly suggest getting that, the small bottle should be all you need for your wedding and honeymoon too!

Unfortunately this is the only pic i have of me with the tanner on, i used it literally all summer long, no one could tell it was a spray on unless it was fading. i’ll be honest, if it fades a bit and then you reapply more without exfoliating the old layer off, it’ll turn out patchy. you need to make sure when it’s time, you exfoliate it all off and then reapply!

    UPDATE:

Thank you all for the advice! This is my new process:

-Exfoliate (face & body) with Freeman Feeling Beautiful Charcoal Mask Scrub with a loofah

    -Shave

-Use baby unscented lotion on hands, feet, wrists, ankles, elbows & knees

-Tan with Loving Tan Dark Mousse with the Ulta tanning mitt

*The Loving Tan mousse is pricey but it really works & looks natural! I love the color & it is not streaky. I will be using this for special occasions including my wedding & honeymoon Smiley heart
