I’m considering giving each guest a lottery ticket (scratch offs) as a party favor? Either having maid of honor and groomsmen pass them out during cocktail hour or placing them on their seat/table: Good or bad idea? Any thoughts? I got this idea from a post I saw on Facebook on alternatives to the regular party favors and thought it could be fun !

I don’t really like lottery tickets, it’s kinda a crappy favor if you don’t win any money. I would rather give something that everyone would have for sure. But I wouldn’t complain about it or anything

My sister suggested this to me as an idea since I plan to not do any favors. If I decide to do a favor it would be a scratch off with ticket for sure! My sister got one as a favor at her friends wedding and it was a huge hit! Plus if you do the $1 scratch off not too much money spent on favors that would otherwise be left behind.

I’m doing lottery tix as a favor. I thought it was a great idea and everyone will actually use them with no need to worry about bringing home stuff they’ll never use. I’m putting them in these bags to make them a little more presentable.

Am I the only one who would be mad if someone won a large amount of money at my wedding? 😂
but I do think it’d be cute and a fun favor.

To be honest, my FFIL and his family all have gambling addictions. I wouldn't consider doing this for anyone who has a gambling addiction. It's basically like giving an alcoholic a glass of champagne at dinner and them having to have the internal struggle of drinking or not. I wouldn't wish that on my guests. You know your guests better than anyone on here, so if you don't have anyone who is struggling with a gambling addiction then you should be fine. I know it may seem petty to worry about this, but with gambling addicts even arcade games can be triggers. We've dealt with this with FFIL many times.
