Lost invitations

Anna, on October 21, 2020 at 6:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So we found out recently that two of my guests never received the invitation that was mailed the first of September. Mom wondered how many others got lost, but I told her I felt like most responded yes or now (rather than wait when is it) when I followed up about RSVPs. Too late to fret now (getting married Saturday), but the way the mail has been running lately, I can certainly see why some may want to opt for digital invitations.

The mail is usually not this bad. Prior to this year, mail not getting to its location was rare but this year it's an everyday occurrence, and if it does arrive, it's several weeks late at best. Hopefully your potential guests are able to receive invite information.

The mail in NC has been all over the place throughout Covid. But there’s a service by USPS that allows you to see what mail is coming to you and if it’s scanned, it will appear and you can file a loss if it doesn’t show up. If it were 1 person, I wouldn’t question the mail, but because it happened to more than one...

When we didn’t get our RSVPs back, we did reach out personally for confirmation. It was just the right thing to do during Covid.

This is definitely a problem! As far as we know, everyone got our save the dates in December/January, but at least 3 people didn't get the new ones we sent in June, even though they were the exact same size and shape and were addressed to the same people.

Yeah it's been crazy. I only did digital RSVPs (or they could call/text me). I've followed up with most everyone, and only the 2 that I know of haven't gotten their invites.

My in law's literally live 5 minutes away from us and didn't get their invite until like 2 weeks later after we sent them. We hand delivered a new invite to them. The mail is definitely a problem. But we asked our guests when we didn't receive their RSVP if they coming, what they're eating etc.
