Lost Dress? What should i do?

Victoria, on April 8, 2020 at 12:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20
So I had dropped my dress off at David's Bridal for alterations the beginning of March and had a pickup date scheduled for April 2. I Was called Mar 31st and the store offered to ship my dress to me for free because the location would be closing for Covid 19 and I would not be able to pick it up. I asked about tracking but there was none available and they told me to call back for it. I cant call the store because no one is there to answer. I have no tracking, no clue what carrier. The David's bridal is less than 1 miles from my apartment, so the fact that it's been a week and I havent recieved it concerns me. What should I do?

I had to call David’s bridal last week regarding the bride-maids dresses. My location is also closed but try the costumer service number hopefully a rep will take the call because I had to leave a detailed message and instead of calling me back it was through text.

I've tried to call but the just redirect me to their texting service and it's been over 2 hours with no reply. I'm so nervous.

I would try the texting service. It took a few tries to get someone, but once I did she was able to find my dress and have them ship it to me. It got here the next day, a little worse for wear because they just kind of threw it in the biggest box they had and shipped it that day. I will say she didn't provide me tracking information either, so I was in your headspace. It's possible that it was shipped yesterday and will get to you soon, but I would be trying the texting service. You may also be able to get them on Instagram- they tend to reply to comments on their posts pretty quickly.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I agree, a week is a long time. Even if the dress had to go to the shipping company's distribution center for your area I'd think it should have arrived by now. The David's Bridal that altered my dress shipped it via FedEx, and it didn't take that long.

I'd second PP to try the text number. And as hard as it is to hear, be willing to give them time to reply since there might be a lot of texts coming in. And also try to contact them through social media. I've heard that recommended for other retailers and other industries as a potential way to get faster responses when things are normal. Hopefully it was just delayed being handed over to the shipping company and you have your dress soon!

Thank you. I know I shouldn't be freaking out because I have plenty of time. But not knowing where my dress is stresses me out. The staff at my store is wonderful so I am sure it will all work out in the end.

I wouldn't worry yet. I think shipping is taking longer for a lot of things right now, due to the increase in people ordering online. They should have provided you a tracking number though. I hope it arrives soon!

Did you have to sign for it or was it just left?

It was just left lol. My hubby brought it in like "Were you expecting a huge box from David's Bridal?" 🙄 I expected to sign for it but nope.

I would give it a few more days, most things get picked up go to a post office for distribution and then are sent out from there generally 7-10 days for mail. good luck I hope you dress gets to you asap!

Sorry to hear that. I would text them and they will get back to you. I had to contact them through text about my dress. I will say that I had to wait an hour or two before they started to text me bc they were very busy. Once I was talking to them through via text I was able to make an appointment for a fitting and alterations in May. So keep trying to text them, you may have to wait bc they are taking text in the order that they receive the text. Also if you have your receipt for your dress they may ask you for the order number which is the tran# at the top right. they can look it up that way.

Oh no! I'm sorry! Is there another door out could've been left at? Sometimes they place our packages at the side door. Or if you're in an apartment complex, is there an office or another building it could've been left at? Or maybe ask your neighbors?
I'd also see if you could file a mis-delivered package claim of some kind with the shipping company

Oh no! I'm sorry! I'm sure it's so stressful right now. Hopefully the claim form is just acting up and you can submit one in the morning. And the office will be open tomorrow so hopefully they'll have some news too. There's not a lot of people out, so I'm sure it was just misdelivered somewhere and they'll be able to help you find it

Completely understandable. And I know it probably won't help but maybe there's something you can do to try and relax until then? Go for a run, have FH give you a massage, watch a favorite movie?

I work at the post office and right now all mail is going much slower unless it’s an essential item that’s being shipped. If it’s something they don’t see as “essential” they slow it’s shipping speed. My maid of honor dress hasn’t arrived yet and it’s been close to 2 weeks. Sorry for the bad news. Hang in there it’ll show up.
