Losing weight

Heavenli, on June 23, 2020 at 4:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I was wondering if anyone else has had or is having this issue. I purchased my wedding dress really early on in my planning. I was only 3 months postpartum, so I knew I would be losing weight. I have already lost 45lbs in 8months and I plan on losing about 25 more lbs before my wedding. I tried my dress on about a month ago and it’s already to big. It needs to be taken in at least an inch on each side, maybe 2 inches. It is a corset back so the lady doing my alterations says it will be fine. I’m worried if I lose the rest of this weight that i won’t be able to wear my dress. I’m worried that the alterations will start effecting the structure of my dress. I don’t know if I should start looking for a different dress and plan on selling the one I have or what. Help!

Ah in that case you probably shouldn't do alterations until you're at your goal weight, otherwise if you're planning to lose another 25 lbs then you'd have to alter it again after.

If the seamstress says it will be fine, it will be fine! She is the one doing the work. She is the expert.

Ya, I don’t plan on doing the alterations until at the earliest a month before the wedding.

I know I need to have faith in my seamstress. It’s just really hard. I worry it won’t look right if it needs to be altered to much.

I agree with PP's on waiting until you are done losing the weight to start any alterations. Also, can I ask what you are doing to lose weight?

I would definitely wait on alterations, like everyone else has said. Unless you have intricate beading, taking it in shouldn't be too big of a deal, especially if the seamstress says it'll be okay.

I’m working out 5days a week. Alternating speed walking and weight training. I’m also on a low carb diet and drinking at least a gallon of water a day. I also breastfeed my son. It’s a lot of hard work, but the results are worth it. I can see me keeping this up for the rest of my life. Maybe not going so hard on the workouts once I get to my goal, but definitely the diet.

There is some beading, but it’s mainly on the top of the dress. The seamstress has only seen pictures with the Covid thing going on.

Im In The Same Situation Almost. My Dress Is Baggy Now And Im Still Losing Weight, So The Alterations Place I Will Be Taking it To Told Me To Bring It In No Later Then September (October Wedding). It Is Easier For Them To Take In A Dress So Don't Worry.
