Loose stone

Goingthomas2020, on March 11, 2020 at 8:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
My FH proposed in July and on Monday I noticed my stone is a little loose in the setting. The company is offering to fix it free but we pay shipping. Should a stone become loose in less than a year??

I had a small stone fall out of my ring within 2 or 3 months of getting engaged

It depends. Do you work a lot with your hands? Do you never take it off? What design is it? Stones that sit higher on the ring tend to get more damage done to them. Also how the prongs sit might make the setting weaker.

Thanks for the info. I don't work a ton with my hands (mostly office work) but I do wear it daily at work but remove at home. It's a 4 prong solitaire. I think it's technically cathedral but it's not as high as some others I had tried on. Mostly I'm wondering if this is faulty manufacturing and I should fix with a different jeweler.

Oh no! I hope you saw it happen and didn't lose the stone

I find that concerning. I would have the jeweler tighten all of the prongs while they are fixing it.

My manager had her stone come loose as well and she just got proposed to in November. Sometimes it happens! If you get it tightened and it happens again, then I'd be concerned.

I totally lost it haha. And I freaked out when I saw. Had to take it to get fixed and it was gone for a week or which was hard but it was free because he had a good insurance plan on it!

I lost a stone almost 6 months after he proposed. It was a small one but I was devastated. Needless to say we brought it to the store and they literally were just like oh okay cool we'll fix it. I think its just a thing that happens. Needless to say, I am much more conscious of taking it off when I should.
