Super August 2022

Looking tomorrow

Lynne, on July 3, 2019 at 1:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
My first wedding gown appointment is August 1st. It will be just my mom and I. I've never had this experience the first time I got married. My aunt (like a second mom/best friend) is joining us. I value the opinions of these two gals.

I don't know what kind of gown I really want. I don't know what will look good on me. Need to get ideas before my August appointment.

A friend of mine wants to go with but she also needs to look for her own wedding gown. So, her and I are going to a small bridal boutique in the morning.

I don't feel guilty about tomorrow because it's not the same store for my August appointment. I spoke with my mom and her sister both are fine with me going tomorrow to some place different because I'm only getting ideas tomorrow. They said "August will be fun, we will make a day of it and focus on you."

I'm so happy to hear how supportive your mom and aunt are! You can book a mini appointment at some salons for 30 to 45 minutes. The purpose is to meet your assistant, they get to know you and what your wedding is going to be like. Then they have you try on three dresses in different cuts and styles (strapless ballgown, mermaid with sleeves, drop waist sleeveless mermaid, for ex) so you get a sense of what you're comfortable in. Based on the results of that appointment, your assistant works on a list of specific dresses in the store that align with your vision before your longer appointment. It's more about narrowing down your options than it is finding the one.

I recommend looking for sure! I will say that once you start trying on a few, you really start to understand what you feel best is vs. what looks good on the rack vs. what you thought you wanted.

If your budget is flexible then shop around as much as you want !

I tried one gown. I know that some lace I don't like, it felt a little scratchy.

That's so exciting, it sounds like you have a great plan. I'd take time tomorrow to try on one of each style of gown you can get your hands on! Then when you're ready to shop with your mom on the 1st you would have an idea of the type of gown you like the best

Oh, have you already been shopping? Did your friend find a gown?

It's good that you got to try it on to get a sense. That means you can eliminate that type of dress when you go with you mom. It sounds like it was a good day!
