Looking for high waisted mid-thigh shapewear with open crotch

Norma, on September 10, 2019 at 11:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 6

Hello All!

I am honestly at the end of my rope. I have been searching for shapewear with an open crotch for so long. My dress has a slightly lower back and the entire neckline is lace so i can't have any straps. I had no idea that finding high waisted shorts with an open gusset would be so difficult. I know spanx makes them but I am not willing to spend $80 on a pair of spanx that im only going to wear for 6 hours. Aside from that, the spanx i tried out were creating a muffin top on my higher back and they rolled down in less than 10 seconds. I even tried two sizes up and same issue. I carry some of my weight on my back, thighs, and tummy. ...well thats everywhere right? lol I had my first fitting last week so I decided to buy any pair that sucked me in without worrying about the crotch area.. just to have something for the visit you know. Anyway, the seamstress told me that if they weren't the pair I was going to be using that I should take them off. She wanted to get accurate measurements. All in all, I didnt look horrible without the shapewear but i would feel more comfortable with a bit of tummy control. Also, I spent all of 30 minutes in that dress and i felt my thighs start to sweat. I am honestly considering getting high-waisted shapewear and cutting a damn hole myself...

like seriously... how is it that all men's boxers have a freakin pee hole when they can easily just stick their privates out from the top, But women are trapped inside skin-tight shapewear without an open gusset?!?! I guess women don't have to pee huh? grrrr! Smiley angry lol

hella frustrated.. the wedding is in a month. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Please help! lol

LOL! This made me laugh because you’re right, it’s sooo complicated for girls! I haven’t seen any shape wears without a crotch area but if you ever find out please let me know!

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION. I had the same issue looking for shape wear for my wedding in Oct. After spending a lot of money and time with things that didn’t work i saw a fb ad for honeylove. I ordered two sizes and crossed my fingers. The gimick is that there’s soft flex boning and it isn’t supposed to roll down. The crotch hole is very easy to open. I’ve worn it around the house with no issues of it rolling down. It was expensive but worth every penny. They do have a 60 day return policy but you have the return shipping deducted from the refund. For reference I’m typically dress size 16 or 18 depending on the brand. Good luck with your search!

    Hey Norma!

I totally understand how frustrating this is, fortunately, you seem to have a great sense of humor about it!

Have you checked out Amazon? You might be able to find something that fits your specifications, but there is no guarantee that they will not roll down from the top as other pairs have.

To be honest, if you are trying to keep your costs down and $80 is too much to spend on shapewear, DIYing a hole might actually be a good option. Have you found any so far that are perfect, except for the fact that they don’t have an opening?
