Looking for alternative to "getting ready" robes

Cassandra, on April 23, 2013 at 11:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I really like the idea of the bridesmaids and bride in some kind of robe/shirt and we match. But, my bridesmaids dont have the money for a $30 robe and I cant buy one for all of them (i already have gifts for them).

Anyone have any ideas of something we can do so I can still have that getting ready shot? They dont really like button up shirts because they are all either petite or plus-sized and dont think they look "right"

I hope you guys can help, Thanks!

Find some cheap zip up sweatshirts and buy some iron on rhinestone patches saying "bride" and "bridesmaid"

You could get a bleach pen and write "bride" etc. on them.

Just be careful with t-shirts and tank tops. Ideally, you want to wear clothes that you don't need to pull over your head while you're getting ready so that it doesn't mess up your hair. Button up shirts, hoodies, and robes are preferable for this reason. A lot of tank tops can be pulled down over the hips though, so I'd suggest those before a tshirt.

I second what lirana said. You don't wanna mess up your hair or makeup. Another alternative could be to do shirts with the neckline cut so it can be pulled over the head without causing a mess. Otherwise I like the zip up hoodie idea, you could try old navy for a basic zip up that wont break the bankSmiley smile

Could you possibly do matching robes without anything written on them? I think it will still create cute photographs. They have some adorable lightweight cotton robes at Target right now in some fun colors. I think they are about $12-$16

Since your wedding is in June I would go with something as lightweight as possible. Last thing you want is everybody to be sweating their makeup off. Maybe the cotton robes or short sleeve hoodies.

Just wear a men's button down shirt. If you want to get fancy you could have a local place add embroidery on the pocket or cuff(s), but I think it'd be cute enough plain.

Also, this isn't a "must-take" picture so you could just not worry about it too.

I'm a May bride and got my bridesmaids oversized men's button down white shirts with their monograms. The monogram is the color of their bridesmaid's dresses.

I loved them so much I'm going to get one made for me!

Honestly, I might get bitched at for this, but I wouldn't put too much time and effort into this. We have literally, no pictures of our BP getting ready.. well, no staged shots anyway. In the frenzy of everything, it simply got forgotten. I guess it depends on how large your BP is. Just some advice, please don't take it the wrong way Smiley smile

You can do simply colored tanks / shirts like Jennifer said with nothing on them.

I bought cheap tanks from Old Navy and ironed on rhinestones for my BMs. I also gave them personalized hoodies because nobody wears the "Bridesmaid" tanks after the wedding any way.

I got my ladies a $10 robe off of walmart.com. i'm going to have my mom put their monograms on them. i love the different ideas though. this is a photo shot i really want, even if it's done by a family member so that's why i put the attention to this.

What are your colors? Robemart.com has them for $11.99 each. I got 8 fuschia ones done with monogrammed names for about $20 a piece. I believe they also have white
