Looking for advice about having ceremony and reception on two different days.

Hello any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We are still in the early planning stages, but would it be rude to have a ceremony around 6 PM followed by cake and drinks for an hour. The ceremony would be small with only about 20 close family and very close friends.

The next day (a Saturday, so people would be off work) would be a reception with a larger guest list with a proper meal. Does that seem fair to the guests?

We're trying to compermise between one of us wanting a small intimate wedding and the other wanting a larger fancy wedding. My partner refuses to elope, so that is not an option.

Thank you so much

There are several concerns with a 2- day event. But, I'll simplify: as a Co-Host getting married, I'd be less excited on the 2nd day; as a guest, I'd prioritize a party less than if it was an actual wedding and go with other plans; as a family member, I'd be annoyed to dedicate my whole weekend for someone else's Day. But on the positive side, photographer, beauty teams, and other vendors will be happy for more paid services. Hope you both get the wedding you want.
