Looking for a venue

Syketa, on November 26, 2019 at 6:11 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
I’m stressing out looking for a venue for next Oct. I really love my wedding date. Since it’s short notice should I change? Looking for something for a decent price as well and almost everyone is booked 😢

October is the most popular wedding month. Most wedding venues book up over a year in advance for October dates. Maybe try looking into newer venues that may not have had a lot of exposer, and therefore not have a lot of bookings.

My suggestion is to go for a non-traditional day of the week. I got married on a Monday. Received a venue discount, photo discount and hair and makeup discount.

You chose the most popular wedding date for 2020. If you are set on that date you might not get an actual venue. Might have to backyard it.

10/10/2020 is my date as well, and will probably end up being the most popular date in 2020 to get married. I booked my venue in late 2018, and they were already getting multiple inquiries about that date. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised that you're running into trouble. Smiley sad

That being said, you have some options. Are you 100% set on the type of venue you want? What kinds have you looked at already? Newer venues or non-traditional spaces could be available.

Even if you find a venue for that date, just know that you'll probably have to make some compromises with other vendors too. The big ones (photographer and DJ) book up nearly as fast as venues.

I agree with Eri. This is my date too and we booked all of our vendors 16-17 months in advance and some vendors were already unavailable. Just saying that so you can do some research on other vendors in addition to the venue. The date is cool but at the end of the day, I’m sure you’d rather compromise on the date then have to choose from what remains of vendors rather than what you would pick otherwise. If it were me I would want my dream wedding over a date but see what you can find! It might work out!

I would say that October 10, 2020 is the most popular wedding date for next year. I know two people that are getting married that day. Honestly I think you are going to be hard pressed to find a venue at this point for that day unless you go with something nontraditional or are willing to reach out to a bunch of venues. If you really wanted that date, I would have booked something sooner. I think your best option is going to be something nontraditional or changing your date.

I work at a wedding venue and let me tell you. October is nuts!!! I'd suggest having a flexible date or maybe wait until 2021?

If you open up to non traditional venues you may have more luck. For example we had our wedding and reception and a community center. It was awesome and affordable. You can also check libraries, museums, Zoos, VFW halls, UAW halls etc

Unfortunately, I'd be willing to bet that that day is going to be the most popular in 2020. You may need to look into changing your date (if you have a specific venue in mind) or think of some unconventional spaces, like renting out your local farmers' market after hours, a brewery, museum, local/state park, hotel, etc.

We’re 10/10/20 as well. You might have more luck with a non-traditional venue for your wedding (ie. not a hotel or a banquet hall). Not sure where you live (big city or small town). But I bet there’s still something out there. You might have to be open- minded and think out of the box. Best Wishes in your search!

Maybe check out locations in areas you hadn't tried before.

I agree with the PP. If you are absolutely set on your date try and push it back a year. (next year is leap year so be careful what day it will fall on) Even still you are going to have to make some compromises - unfortunately that always is the case.
