Long Train on the Beach?

Courtney, on October 28, 2021 at 4:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hey all! I'm looking for a little advice (or even just some opinions) on my wedding dress. I recently purchased my dress, and it is absolutely GORGEOUS, but it has an impressively long train (probably about three or four feet back from where the dress originally hits the ground. I'm getting married outside on the beach, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with having a big train paired with a beach wedding (or just any outdoor wedding)?

I honestly love the train and don't want to remove it. In order to get it hemmed to either shorten it or remove it altogether, the seamstress said it would cost double because of how big it is. BUT I don't want it to ruin the day by getting full of sand or being gritty. I don't care if it gets dirty (if I did I wouldn't be getting married outside). I just don't want it to cause other problems.

Thoughts?

Maybe have one of your attendants shake it out really good after the ceremony and pictures and immediatly bustle it?

I wouldn’t let a little (or a lot! 😉) of sand ruin the train you love! If your reception is going to be indoors after the beach ceremony, I would just shake out the train really well before going inside, then bustle it. Try to get out as much as possible, because my only fear would be sand getting on the dance floor and making it slippery/a fall hazard.

That’s what I was thinking! I’m going to have to bustle it no matter what if I leave any amount of train so I figure if I’m gonna need to shake it out either way I might as well keep it! This is the dress/train in question 🥰 it’s very lacy and is definitely not your typical beach dress but I loved it too much Long Train on the Beach? 1

It’s gorgeous!! 🤩 there is no way I would get rid of that train either! I think it will make a really cool beach dress! The shape reminds me of a mermaid, and the way the top layer of tulle lays reminds me of when foamy ocean waves wash up onto the sand.

I love a train on the beach. I had a train on overwatered grass. I was sinking in the dirt. I was fine. You'll be fine.

Sand won't keep you from bustling or ruin the dress. Someone stepped on my train and the dry cleaner got it out no prob.
Please leave that beautiful train be!

Your train is lovely and lightweight. Absolutely gorgeous!! I think it will be fine in the sand. My train is over six feet in length and very heavy, it would be dragging a ton of sand with it. LOL! Eventhough we are having a Caribbean destination elopement, we aren't getting married on the beach. I can't wait to see your BAM!! ❤

Tulle definitely is more of a sand grabber than satin or something along those lines, but my train is also tulle and I am getting married in the sand, and I don't really care what happens haha. Just give it a good shake.
