Long train Long veil?

Lmdg0309, on April 1, 2016 at 10:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Hi everyone. I have always dreamed of having nice long, cathedral length veil. However, the dress I chose also has a very long, dramatic train. Would it be overkill if I did both? When I tried on the dress they put me in a fingertip length veil, which looked ok, but lacked the drama. Here is a photo of the back... anyone else wear anything similar that they could share? thanks a million!!!

My first dress had a gigantic train. I did a cathedral veil at church under my fingertip veil. Then removed it when it was bustled. I agree about the drama. I think you need a long one for the ceremony then have a short one when its bustled for the reception

I feel like the back is plenty! But if you did a cathedral veil, I would go with a plain tulle one, so it wouldn't cover that gorgeous lace up!

I personally like elbow/fingertip length veils, especially with a cathedral train. But I think I'm in the minority.

That veil is amazing and looks perfect with the dress!! I would totally do it. I do not like short veils. If your gonna wear a veil, go all out. You will only wear one once in your life! I attached mine below.

    Either would look beautiful.

But I would do the long one. I think it will

    Be perfect

DO IT! It looks amazing. I also have a very dramatic, long train for our church ceremony. I'm pairing it with a cathedral length veil with a very thin ribbon edging, so it doesn't take away from the lace of the dress but has a little "something". It's your one day to go all out, I say go for it!

I think that veil is gorgeous. Love the cathedral length!! Shorter veils aren't my style.

I have a similar back. I am going with a long veil that has some beading on the edge. It is pretty sheer and not too ornate so it doesn't take away from the beautiful back. It's also angel cut which I love. This is the style if you are interested: https://www.bestbridalprices.com/edward-berger-veils-style-4203-p82595

I have a long train & didn't think I would ever want a cathedral veil. It seemed too much to me. Then while trying on veils my MOH suggested just trying one (I wasn't having any luck with shorter ones) and I fell in love. The one I'm wearing in the picture is similar to the one I'll be wearing. My dress is white & that veil only comes in ivory (the consultant didn't know that). I actually had to order lace and a veil separate and will be attaching the lace myself. Don't worry people - I have experience with it.

TLDR- The cathedral veil finishes the look imo. Just go with a simple one.

Thanks all. It seems like some people are thinking I'm already wearing a cathedral veil in the photo so I guess I should clarify - what you see in the photo is the actual dress w/ a fingertip veil on. The dress is a fit and flare with a sheer overlay, which I don't want to possibly take away from by wearing a veil over it!

I didn't want my dress and veil to be competing. I have a cathedral train and a fingertip veil. I would worry about the train and veil competing or ending just about the same and it looking weird.

My dress has a long train too and I'm doing a cathedral length veil because I've always dreamed of it. My consultant found the PERFECT one to fit the dress without over doing it. The first one I tried was way too blingy, so we went with a super plain one so we could still see my dress, with the lace at the ends.

People the picture is her dress, not a long veil!

Anywho, idk girl, adding a cathedral veil to that train may actually be a little overkill. I personally think the fingertip looks fine...

But if you did do cathedral it would have to be just plain tulle I think or your skirt would get lost in it. Your dress gives you the look you are wanting, (cathedral) regardless though.
