Long sleeves in summer?

gratia01, on April 18, 2020 at 10:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
So girls,

In light of the world turning upside down lately, we are moving our wedding up. It will be a small ceremony but we’re still taking photos and I’m still wanting to wear a wedding dress. I do have a dress already but it has long lace sleeves. Has anyone else worn a long sleeve dress for a summer time wedding? I’d love to see pictures and hear what you guys think of the idea.
Here’s my dress for you all to get a visual!Long sleeves in summer? 1

You could bring it to a seamstress and ask them to make it 3/4 sleeves or short sleeves. I think it looks beautiful as is. If your wedding is in the evening it indoors the heat shouldn’t really be a factor and lace is breathable.

My SIL wore a long sleeved ball gown dress in the middle of July! I would have died because I'm a hot natured person. We got married this past winter and I wore an off the shoulder dress and was still hot! It's really about how comfortable you will be. You could talk to your seamstress and shorten your sleeves. I think the dress would look very nice with cap sleeves.

I think it's fine as long as the dress is breathable. The lace is light and has a lot of mesh, so it's not like you're wearing a sweater or somerhing.

I have thought of that! We would most likely have the wedding in the afternoon but I think I would be fine.

That’s good to know. I’m usually the person who’s always too hot too!

I agree! See if you can have it altered to shorter 3/4 length sleeves! Love the off the shoulder!

My wedding is this August and I fell in love with a long sleeved dress. There will be AC so I’m not too worried!

Is your wedding indoors or outdoors? Indoors I wouldn't think it would make much difference since it'll be air conditioned. But still... I should warn you, I am the type of person who is ALWAYS cold, and I wore a strapless dress in early June. I was SWEATING by the end of our reception. I felt so silly because I had spent so much time and effort finding a shawl to wear that would look good with my dress, and I didn't even consider wearing it for a second. Even though my dress was strapless, wedding dresses have a lot of layers and will keep you very warm.

Not trying to scare you or anything haha, just trying to be realistic that you may end up being much hotter than you'd think! But like I said, if you're indoors and in air conditioning it probably wouldn't make a difference. Usually I find I'm actually colder at summer events than winter events (provided they're indoors) because the AC will be blasted in the summer.

Sure why not! I don't see it being a problem especially if your venue is indoors. My wedding is in August as well and my dress is long sleeve but my venue is indoors and i never thought twice about the heat.
