Long Island wedding

Grace, on September 27, 2018 at 1:30 PM Posted in New York Planning 1 10
My fiancé and I are looking to get married in Long Island in the north fork. We have pushed our date to 2020 so that we can save to afford a wedding. We would still like to keep the wedding to at most 15,000 for 150 guests. Does anyone have any suggestions for location? I’m feeling like I will never find anything. HELP!

Hi Grace! If you have a venue in mind, maybe try calling them to see if they offer any specials, deals, or packages that may make the venue more affordable! Venues are sometimes able to offer you better deals than what they have listed on their website, and it can't hurt to ask! I hope this helps!

My coworker had a budget wedding over in Stony Brook/Setauket. I think it was the Bates house? You bring in your own catering. It’s a great way to save.

My other friends got married at a vineyard in Cutchogue. I know that’s crazy expensive so definitely look at places where you can bring in your own catering.

Two huge ways to save on LI weddings: Thursday/Friday/Sunday weddings and getting married off peak (ie winter).

    Good luck!

If you are looking for a vineyard wedding, it is most likely impossible to have one for 150 guests for $15K. I had 75 guests and a budget of 25K and we couldn't do it. There wasn't a Vineyard we went to that was less that $10K just for the location and that didn't include any catering or all the wine they make you purchase. The price is understandable though, since they are seasonal and have to close the vineyard for the day for your event.

All is not lost - you could check other types of venues - take a look at https://www.eastendweddingguide.com/north-fork-wedding-venues-vineyards-farm for ideas. Also check out Mediterranean Manor https://www.medmanor.com/. They have all inclusive wedding packages staring at $11K for 100.

I do think your budget is tight for 150 people. That's $100/person including food, alcohol, tips, service charges, tax, etc. Not sure if your $15K is for anything in addition to the venue but if so, that's going to be tough. Can you cut your guest list down? Would you consider a brunch wedding? Other parts of Long Island?

If you are set on North Fork specifically this may be near impossible. I heard Founders Landing in Southold is an affordable DIY venue but I believe you must be a resident! You could probably pull 150 off if you brought everything in to a Moose Lodge or American Legion Hall, but I don’t personally know of anypast Riverhead! We are getting married at a very affordable all inclusive place on the North Shore but not North Fork called Smithtown Landing Country Club, and the North Shore Beach Clubhouse is another affordable DIY venue in Rocky Point (again north shore but not North fork)

Hi Grace! It sounds like you were having some problems in finding a venue in the location you wanted within your budget. Have you found a venue that works for you or have you had to find another way to stay in budget?

My FH and I wanted the same thing, $15k budget for 125-150 guests on the North Fork. We couldn’t find anything without it being over 25k, not including anything except for site and ceremony fee! We went for Mansion at West Sayville which is absolutely beautiful. We did go over our budget by 5k, soooo not terrible. It does include everything which is great so no stress! Our wedding date is 10/3/2020 and we’re paying 20k with taxes and fees included for 100 guests. Anything over 100 is $130pp.
