Long engagement - when to take engagement photos

I'm a June 2019 bride and we got engaged this March sooo similar length engagement. We are going to do ours in summer even though we are having a summer wedding. I've also considered autumn to not be redundant but we are just summer people and live in a beach community lol

I'm a Jan. 2019 bride and we already took ours! It's an OOT wedding so are planning on sending ours out earlier than usual so we wanted to make sure we loved the pics to make save the dates. Our wedding is very Florida winter but we took pics in summer time in a forest seemed to still somewhat fit the color scheme.

We got engaged in August 2015, wedding in October 14, 2017 and we technically had two engagement sessions. One was the "we are engaged photoshoot!" that H surprised me with (that was originally apart of the proposal but was rained out), and then our official one with our wedding photog was in August of 2016

I'm definitely the outlier with this but I just got engagement photos and I've been engaged since 2014...

We weren't going to do them since it has been so long but it was included in our photography package so we decided to do them since we were paying for them.

I'm having a summer wedding and wish we would have done summer photos! Now it seems so out of place. I'd say take them in fall, but you don't want to. So, just take them whenever you can.

We did ours right in the middle of our two year engagement once we booked our wedding photographer. I originally wanted fall photos, but thought that might be confusing on a STD for a summer wedding.

We had over a year of engagement, and we randomly got our "official" engagement pictures taken by a family member three days after engagement, because we wanted the fall colors. However, for the "fun" of it, we've gotten a couple pictures taken by an amateur in every season since. I ended up loving our summer ones so much, I used them on the invites instead of our original "official" ones.

We got engaged December 2016, getting married June 2018, and just took ours last week. (We chose Fall because our wedding is in Spring so I agree with that part). There's not really a time limit when you should do it, whenever you feel comfortable doing them and have found your photographer.

We got engaged August 2016, we took engagement photos September 2017. We'll get married August 2018.

We actually already did ours lol. We did them to celebrate our engagement, so we took them pretty much right after getting engaged.

Pretty much whenever you want. We got ours done in April (engaged in feb) even though it was a ways out cuz I really wanted to do them lol

I did them two weeks shy of a year out. It takes time to get them back and then create save the dates. We did our photos in July and just sent stds last week

Engagement photos can be nice to have but aren't necessary. Consider what you want to use them for. We may use them on our engagement party invites but probably not wedding invites, so we'll probably get them done this spring. But you could use them on Christmas cards or just be excited to get them done! No rules.

I think I'm the farthest out date I've seen on here so far - minus the lady above who has been engaged since 2014. Typically engagement photos are taken closer to the engagement, but it really depends on the couple. We will be taking ours here in a couple months (Jan or Feb).

We'll be engaged 2.5 years at the time of our wedding, we just took ours 2 weeks ago!

I had (are having) a two year engagement. We took our engagement photos this September and our wedding is October of 2018.

You can take them whenever you like. It will depends on if you want t do STDs and use those photos. If so I would do the photos closer to the tell when you need to order them.

I'm waiting until my hair grows out a bit tbh....

All joking aside, I've been begging FH to go get pictures done but we've been so busy

I was just asking myself this question! All the answered helped! We got engaged end of nov 2017 and are getting married sept 2019, I think I will plan to do our engagement pictures on sept of this year. Now the question is what to wear???lol
