Ok so we're getting married in Chattanooga, TN which is in the same area where we met, and where I lived most of my life. However, we live in Indiana. It's 500 miles and about 8 hours to drive there. Ok so we're getting married in Chattanooga, TN which is in the same area where we met, and where I lived most of my life. However, we live in Indiana. It's 500 miles and about 8 hours to drive there.

My original plan was to just ask my future MIL (who still lives in the area) if I could have things shipped to her house and store them in one of their spare rooms that way we wouldn't have to worry about getting so much stuff there. The sticky part is that I am also planning on DIYing all my floral arrangements (nothing else at the moment but that could change tomorrow Smiley tongue ) , so I'd either have to figure out a way to get them down ahead of time or we drive. Then that got me thinking about the stress of flying with my dress as well.

Should I suck it up and sacrifice my budget to just buy already assembled arrangements and possibly my dress its own plane ticket? Or should we load up our car with our whole wedding and make a road trip?Smiley shame

We're getting married in NY where our families are, but we live in MD. We're planning to drive up on Thursday for a Sunday wedding. We'll pack everything up in the truck and head up! We aren't DIYing much, but we'll have our own clothes, wedding party and parent gifts, our dog and all of his stuff (my parents are watching him while we're on our honeymoon), all of our luggage for the honeymoon (2 weeks long), and possibly giving a ride to some friends that're coming (and all of their luggage).

Make a road trip. 😄 it’ll make you feel much better in knowing that you have everything you need just in case there was an incident that something happened to your dress or decorations or etc. At least when you travel and have it in your possession, you have control over what happens with it. 😄

I would opt to drive. My MOH lives 8hrs from me and anytime I go to see her, I drive. Its less hassle to me to just pack the car and go when I want to rather than driving the hour and change to the airport for a flight at an inconvenient time to get picked up or to then still have to rent a car.

That said my MOH and her sister plan to fly down for my wedding, but their vehicle isn’t super reliable and they just drove cross-county year before last, they’re still over road trips.
