Long Distance Bridesmaid Proposal

Allie, on January 31, 2018 at 4:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 11
Hi! So I’m planning on having 4 bridesmaids and 3 of them live across the country and I may not get the chance to see them until my wedding.

Those who’ve had long distance bridesmaids - What do you guys think is the best way to propose to them? Phone call, Skype, E-Card invite, send a proposal package in the mail, etc...? Thanks!!!

My bridesmaids knew it was coming because we are all cousins and best friends for the last 23 years, but I ended up sending them a small box in the mail. It had a tracking number but once I texted them and told them to look out for it, they all knew! I'd probably ask first via call or skype first if you're not sure they'll say yes. Then send a box or something if you want.

I called them and said, "Soooo... I have a question for you...." Which is Oh so typical of me to act like that. All four of my Bridesmaids live 1100 miles away. Although I asked my MOH to be a BM on the phone, I waited till I saw her a month later to ask her to be my MOH. I think it depends on your relationship.. One of my cousins squeeled for 15 min when I asked her on the phone and it was adorable.

I texted my bridesmaids cards I designed on canva.com. They have a few options for bridesmaids proposals. You can personalize with their names or you can create one card and send it to everyone. My girls responded right away, but it gave them the option to think about it before responding (some of my bridesmaids are international so I was a bit weary about asking).

My sister knew it was coming, but I mailed her a small gift with a card that asked her to be my bridesmaid.

I called them all and asked first, but then I sent them a small something in the mail.

My friend from out of state asked me by sending a proposal box. It was nice. Personally, I'm not into proposal boxes. A little over the top to me. I then asked her to be my bridesmaids when I saw her in person, something that may not work for you. My other bridesmaid that lives far, I just send her a nice card.

I sent boxes in the mail to out of town bridesmaids and in person to the ones close by. Unfortunately one of my bridesmaids was out of town when her package came and it got stolen Smiley cry

If you have the time, money, energy, and really want to send them something, go for it. But it is perfectly fine to just call or text your bridesmaids to ask.

Just please don't ask too far ahead!
