Long Bridesmaid Dresses and Groom and Groomsmen in suspenders and/or vest

Sholar, on September 13, 2017 at 11:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hello, my bridesmaids will be dressed in floor length, champaigne dresses. Is it appropriate for the groom to wear a tweed vest, khaki pants with bow tie or tie and the groomsmen wear khaki pants with white long sleeve shirts with suspenders and bow tie? Wedding is inside a church in February at 2pm

Visual aids would be helpful for this one.

It is hard to determine when there isn't fabric materials. I agree photographic references would be easier to provide suggestions!

If you can envision it, I'd say anything you want is appropriate because it is ultimately up to you two!

You can do whatever you like, but there would be gap in the level of formality between the bride's side and the groom's side, with the women wearing formal gowns and the men dressed very casually in khakis.

I'm doing to same thing. Since my wedding is in the Fall the bridesamids will wear long dresses (with lace accents on top like from davids bridal) and the men will wear the same outfits your essentially picked out lol Smiley smile Our colors are Burgundy and blush, so the dresses will be burgundy and we have yet to decide on gray or tan look for the men. I figured the lace i the dresses would casual down the dresses Smiley smile

I think it looks good! We we're having the men in their uniforms now but we had the same set up

It's really up to you, but long gowns are way more formal than guys in vests. Especially in khakis, which are not really very flattering on many guys. Nor are suspenders.

The guys look more casual and the entire spread looks like it would befit spring/summer rather than February.

The groom's party's look reminds me of a Brooklyn bartender who insists on calling himself a mixologist circa 2010, but that's neither here nor there.

We are doing the same thing so I am going to say go for it! Although our wedding is on a beach in May, so the guy's outfits will be linen. My groom is wearing the vest, and the groomsmen will be in suspenders, but with ties (not bow ties). I think it is going to look great Smiley smile

It depends greatly on the material of the bridesmaids' dresses. In general, I would say the guys need to at least be in suit pants.
