Locations for Wedding Pictures (full family, bride and groom, bridal party)

Cathy, on August 18, 2019 at 6:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

So, my fiance and I are getting married at a yacht club, and the ceremony will be on a friend's yacht. I am trying to think of places to have the group portraits taken. I was thinking of having me and my fiance (just the two of us) in front of or aboard each of our boats; having the bridal party portrait taken in front of the yacht where the ceremony will take place, and then having the full family portrait shot in the grass in front of the yacht club entry, or facing the marina with the boats as a backdrop. (Light dependent, of course). The marina is located in a county park, and there is a beautiful eucalyptus grove in the park, but I am leaning towards sticking with the waterside theme, because that is where we met.

Also, when is the best time to do these portraits? I have seen couples do them after the ceremony (my niece did this), but it seemed a bit rushed and it was tough to track everyone down. I was thinking of doing them before the ceremony.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Here is the website for the marina: https://parks.smcgov.org/coyote-point-marina

And here is the park area https://parks.smcgov.org/coyote-point-recreation-area

Thanks for the help!

Daughter & SIL did the majority of the pictures of the two of them and them with the wedding party before the ceremony, after first look. They had about an hour and a half to do them (large wedding party, and a lot of photo options at the venue). Immediately after the ceremony they took all the photos with family (we had about 50 family members total, so there were several groupings). That was done in less than 30 minutes.

Hey Cathy! Everything about your wedding day sounds perfect!

You can definitely take a lot of your photographs before the ceremony so that you don’t have to rush them, and everyone will be there and ready anyway.

What time does your ceremony start? Do you know what time you will have your photographer from?
