Having such a hard time making the right decision for our wedding. my parents live in Puerto rico and I would love for everyone to go over there for it but realistically that is not going to happen. but if I have it locally my parents wouldn't be able to come. so trying to have a happy medium where I can do either the ceremony here and then the party back in the states. unsure … any ideas recommendations ...

Can you pay to have your parents come here if money is the issue for them? If not, a ceremony/reception in one location and a reception in the other night be best (and you’d get TWO celebrations!!!! 🎉)

I would but money is not the issue. they have a farm and they do not ever leave both at the same time since then there would be no one to take care of the animals .but yeah two celebrations would be nice

Why wouldn't you parents be able to come? Could you and your FH chip in to buy them tickets? Could you do a small intimate ceremony in PR?

The do not like leaving together due to the animals they have on their farm. no other family to help take care of them if they both leave

You can try to have a ceremony but destination weddings may have a higher rate of declines due to travel. I would say prioritize what is most important. If it is your parents then I would just do a very small ceremony. Both your parents (you can save to fly them both down if needed) and maybe a few friends. Have a post ceremony party here in the states like you suggested. Is it that important that you have a lot of guests?

I agree with Kristen, you'll have to decide if it's most important to you that you have your parents or other people there for the ceremony. You could also do two receptions if it's possible within your budget. A small ceremony and reception in Puerto Rico (you can still invite whoever you want, just as mentioned, people might decline a destination wedding) followed by a bigger party/reception at home.

Its looking like that is just what we are going to have to do. im ok with just doing everything there and then just coming home and having a small party with siblings and friends

So hopefully they can come but that would depend on their budget. Have you spoken to them? I would start planning out how much it would be to have a wedding in PR (hotels, flights, expenses, etc...) and then discuss with them could they make it. If it would be ok you could look for a big house that can hold everyone and then split the bill but that still factors in travel. If it is too much to plan then maybe just two you with your parents and his. If there is travel involved give them plenty of time to save up. Pending where you're coming from PR can cost. Good luck.

My brother got married last year in Jamaica and they threw a party for anyone that wanted to come back in Wisconsin. People who couldn't afford to go to Jamaica were happy to throw money in for the party and they had a blast, My brother and his wife wore their wedding attire and partied the night away.
