So.... I happen to be watching TV and see the Verizon commercial where the best man is supposed to be live streaming the wedding from his phone. But, because of his crappy unlimited service from another network he didn't catch anything, in comes Verizon guy. It made me think, is anyone doing this?...

I would assume it's for people who can't make it or the elderly. But, what are you alls thoughts on this?

I think it a bad Idea. If you have the ceremony videotaped, showing it later is one thing. But only a sick relative, or one overseas, would care. And with the time difference, it would be presumptuous to have people following your schedule for a broadcast. Attention seeking, for others. I know it is hardly said on WW, but a wedding is not the important thing it is to us, to anyone but a parent or grandparent, usually.

We're planning to do it for the reason you gave. None of our grandparents are able to attend due to physical limitations (our event space is on a 3rd floor with no elevator access), and my father is also unable to attend due to a recent health issue that means he will not be allowed to travel until well after our planned date. I also have a number of family members who are not able to travel to the wedding for various other reasons

To clarify, we're not planning to livestream on Facebook. We will be setting up a virtual video invite and sending to any/all family and friends who are unable to attend for whatever reason. They can attend or not, as they choose.
