Live Stream for ceremony

PHXBride, on January 21, 2018 at 6:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15
Need advice on ways to live stream our ceremony. I have several family members who are unable to attend our wedding for several reasons but would like to view the ceremony. Has anyone considered this? How are you doing it?

Thanks in advance.

If they have Facebook, just have someone livestream it on there!

We are having a designated person to go Facebook live during the ceremony. I know people have mixed feelings about it, but it makes sense for us.

I don’t think Facebook is the appropriate outlet for this. I would use Skype or Zoom.

I definitely wouldn’t live stream through Facebook. That’s way too much of a public setting. I wouldn’t want any of my friends who weren’t invited to be able to watch.

Thanks, I had thought about Facebook, didn't realize it was super public. I thought Skype was for one on one, I have more than 1 person who needs to watch. Thanks...

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing!! Only thing is, I'm having a small-ish destination wedding (about 25 people) and my family isnt very tech-savvy. The most tech-savvy of the group is my MOH - so that eliminates someone who is attending doing so, unless a stationary camera is set up somewhere...

But for all the people I couldn't invite, I wanted to have them at least be able to watch the ceremony, so I thought this would be perfect!

Can you make a "group" in Facebook? You only invite certain people and limit access to only those people.

If they have (or can sign up for) Gmail accounts, you can have someone from the wedding video chat them in a Google Hangout. I’m not sure if there’s a maximum number of participants, but people definitely use it for group video calls, and you can access it from the mobile app or a computer.

You can live stream on YouTube I believe and make it so that only those with the link are able to view it.

I've also considered doing this, because I'm doing a destination wedding. I was thinking of creating a Facebook group and only adding the people who can't attend the wedding and live streaming it there.

A tried and trusted way of doing this is facebook live. However like PP's said, It can become impersonal as people that you didn't invite may have hurt feelings. I think a great alternative would be to have someone film the entire ceremony, and immediately post to your wedding website. That way it seems/almost is live, and non-attendees can see on their own time etc.

Something to think about. Wherever wedding is you will need to make sure if they’re using a phone/tablet service is strong enough to be able to get a good picture.

I considered it for all of FH's grandparents who will not be able to travel for it. We decided instead to just hire a videographer and send them the videos (especially since I'm sure they're not super tech-savvy). Following this post though in case there are some good ideas! Smiley smile
