Live Musicians during Ceremony?

Carly, on July 2, 2013 at 1:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

Whose having a live musician? What type of musician are you having? Have you been to a wedding where the ceremony music was particularly memorable? Pros and cons of live vs recorded music?

I'm thinking about hiring a string quartet but I can't make up my mind :/

I've always loved a three string quartet for my ceremony but then I heard an accoustic guitar playing One Love by Bob Marley at a slower tempo and I started crying. It's soooo US! It doesn't match the theme at all but it will be perfect anyway. I may still have a violinist come in for other songs but I don't know yet. I think having live music at the ceremony and cocktail hour is lovely. If you can afford it, go for it.

I hired a string quartet for my ceremony. The Cherry Blossom Quartet. You can go listen to their "bonus tracks." They are going to play contemporary music in classical style! Research some in your area and listen to their music. I was moved when I found my musicians so I knew i had to have them.

I think a string quartet would be amazing! We had a good friend of ours play acoustic guitar and it sounded awesome! Quite a few people mentioned that they really liked it over prerecorded music.

I am using live musicians! It's a pianist and flutist duo, who also happen to be two of my BFFs so I'm getting them for free! They will play whatever I ask them too, we are going to talk about it before summer is out so they can learn the music.

I had a 3 piece band! My family is very musical. My cousin sang "A thousand years" as I walked down the aisle. My uncles band played the background.

We're having a bagpipe do our music. A friend did her music at the same venue with a computer attached to the speaker- it didn't sound good and it wasn't able to be in sinc with what was going on-although the person running it seemed a bit tecgnology challenged. My brother did his music a few years ago via a boom box, except you couldn't really hear it( there were like 5 guest) and it kept skipping
