Live band at reception?

Amy, on August 3, 2020 at 1:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
I postponed my June 2020 wedding celebration until May 2021. I have booked a live band as I always love live music. I’m getting increasingly concerned about Covid spread through singing and the playing of musical instruments. Has anyone cancelled their plans for a band with the same concerns?

They are wearing masks and using sanitizer correct? Then singing and playing instruments will not spread it.

I also postponed my wedding to May 2021, and I'm also having a live band. I'm hoping that there will be a vaccine by the time May rolls round (Fauci recently said he's "cautiously optimistic" that there will be one by the end of 2020), so if that's the case, no need to worry! If COVID is still an issue, just have the band wear masks and be distanced from the guests.

Also May 2021 (for now) and also have a band. Planning to have the band wear masks and maybe face shields? Guests on the dance floor will also probably wear masks.

Btw, even if there is a vaccine developed by the end of 2020, it still needs to be approved by the FDA, and millions of doses need to be approved and distributed. If all three vaccines in trials are successful and approved, the estimate is April for a vaccine available to young healthy people.

I work at a university with a highly respected music program, and there are in fact huge concerns about potential spread of Covid through singing and wind instruments.... There may be ways to reduce the risk (hopefully, even more so by next spring), but I definitely think this is something else to take into consideration. (Not like you don't have enough to worry about....) Smiley heart

Yes, this is what I was thinking. I never wanted a DJ, but unless there is a vaccine, I just don’t see how to have the band play safely. You can’t sing with a mask on or play a saxophone!
