Little advice for bridesmaids

So today I decided to try on my bridesmaid dress for my best friends wedding next weekend to make sure it was good to go. Guess what it wasn't. I had it altered I think around Easter and it fit perfectly. Tried it on today, the zipper is completely broken as in puckering and won't go up. My FH is trying to help me, I'm calling my mom and trying to figure out what to do. Finally I'm like ok let's call the bridal shop I bought my dress from that is 5 mins from my house. They tell us to come in. We go in, and the consultant I worked with for my dress is there. They finally get me out of my dress after breaking the fabric by the zipper, meanwhile I am crying because I don't know what i am going to do. They called their seamstress and I am meeting with her tomorrow. She is going to replace the faulty zipper. I'm so grateful to the local shop and my consultant for keeping me calm. I had recently decided to go with azazie for my dresses, I am reconsidering now because of this local shop and might go with them because they were so nice and calming for me. So my advice double check with your bridesmaids that their dresses work at least 2 weeks before the big day! I know I will be now!!

Unfortunately I think most bridesmaid dresses are cheaply made and this happens! I’ve been a bridesmaid 14 times and there have been so many times we’ve had to sew a girl into her dress because the zipper broke. Even with $300 dresses!

I think this is awesome advice. At my friends wedding another bridesmaid went to put on her dress about 30 minutes before we were supposed to start the ceremony and she couldn’t zip it up. I was frantically thinking about finding a Shaw she could wear to cover. Thankfully the mother of the bride eventually got the zipper to work.

Thank you! I'm lucky also my venue is literally down the block from this dress store. When I go in this coming week I'm planning on bringing muffins to thank them for their help too. I messaged a few of the girls in the wedding next week to check their dresses to be safe. They were shocked by this too considering it has worked before

Also be careful about the pictures. I was running bridesmaid errands and the photographer took the dresses from the bridal suite to do a picture in a tree and got mud spots on my light pink dress. Luckily someone had a tide pen!

Oh yikes! From what the seamstress said the color will be the most difficult thing because it's the mulberry color from azazie. She might just have to do black. Not her fault obviously, just something to be thinking of when choosing dresses. One of the other bridesmaids was like oh you should tell the bride, umm no I dont think so, that's the last thing she needs right now.

Just an update. The cost of the zipper is going to be 30 I have also had 40 to alter my dress so a person couldn't see down the front of it. So 70 for alterations and 102 for a dress from azazie. So much for reasonably priced lol! Also the seamstress won't be able to match the color of the dress thanks to the unique color of it lol. I get it back on Wednesday.

Oh no! Idk why, but I’m not a fan of dress pics (probably for that reason lol). It’s like, why in the world would my dress be hanging from a tree?

Yeah that seems weird. I will be giving a hard no to my photographer if she asks to do that lol! I get the hanger thing but the tree pic not so much

Great advice... I've eben ontop of my bridesmaids to get dresses early for this reason. A lot of my bridesmaids are on diets right now (2 new moms and 2 just looking to lose weight) so I opted for them to get dresses early so they can get any and all alterations done with time to spare just incase.

Yes exactly, my plan was to send them the options for dresses in August and then I will have final say so they will have an idea of when they need to order from Azazie and have time to also do the try on if they choose to. I am still undecided what I would like to do now, I know the convenience of Azazie would be great but I have anxiety now ordering from them; even though I know this could happen to any zipper no matter where you buy it from. I had this dress I think by November of last year and have kept in a cool and dark room; my FH was like oh you will be fine but part of me was like no I should try this on. I'm so happy I didn't listen to him lol! I'm also probably going to be texting my bridesmaids to make sure their dresses are good as well!
