Hire a professional bartender. They'll know how to handle the liability insurance.

Yep, I would avoid using "friendors".

Hire a pro and they'll have their own.

You need Dram shop insurance. If you buy wedding insurance you can have that added. Sometimes you can get it through your house insurance too.

The reason they require it is because if someone drinks too much and has to go to the hospital or if there are any damages to drinking they can sue your friend and she would have to go through the liability insurance to cover damages.

I would highly recommend hiring a professional bartender. Not only because then the liability falls on them instead of your friend but that way you never put your family friend in the position to be sued.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but hire a professional. Seriously.

This is too dangerous an area to have a friendor.

You should really hire a professional bartender, friendors are a bad idea, for all the reasons above plus - do you really want the family friend to work instead of enjoying the wedding?

Hire a professional bartender. This is an area you definitely want a professional to be licensed and insured, and to not worry about your guests.

Insurance is a must and I doubt your family friend knows how to appropriately assess when to cut someone off for their own safety.

Hire a professional. Don't have friends work your wedding.

When you get the one day insurance that's probably required by your venue, you can add alcohol to that.

This is one area I would absolutely not hire a friend, even if she is a professional. And if she is a professional she should know the answer to this.
