Lipstick vs. kiss

Holly, on June 21, 2012 at 3:33 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

So, how do we look smashing at our ceremony wearing lipstick/lipgloss, and then have the kiss? My fiance normally won't even kiss me if I'm wearing chapstick; he hates any lips stuff on him! Do I omit it and play up the eyes?

Wear a stain! It won't come off on him or anything for that matter. Go to the drugstore/Walmart pick up a lipstain or two (even the cheaper NYC brands will work for practice runs) and wear them around for a day, and shower your FH with smooches to show him that it WON'T rub off on him Smiley smile

My H hates lip stuff too but my MUA applied lipstick in some magical way that I smooched H all day long and never thought once about it. She did a few touchups on me throughout the day/evening but it never really rubbed off. I was too busy being a jittery excited bride when she did my makeup to notice how she applied it or what she used, but I imagine most MUAs or makeup counters could give you some suggestions.

I would wear some color on your lips b/c IMO it brightens up the face for photos, but you could do a lighter color and really vamp up your eyes for sure.

Whatever my MUA did worked. It was rather glossy so I thought it was going to be all over the place but it wasn't. On the other hand, I guess that's why we pay top $$ for a pro :-)

Are you doing your own makeup or do you have a MUA?

There's a base the MUA uses. I can't remember what it's called and I can't read her writing.. but it's an opaque looking lipstick. She said it prevents the lipstick from rubbing off. Smiley smile

Ooh if any MUAs want to chime in with more about this "base" information, I would love to hear it, just for every day! I love lipstick, but I hate that it rubs off so quickly. I'd heavily invest in a product that prevents that!

I wore a lipgloss but by the time it was time to kiss it had pretty much worn off even though I put it on right before i walked down the aisle

I'm doing my own makeup since I'm almost never happy with the way someone else does it. Thanks for the suggestion of a STAIN. I think that is the way to go, but my beau will surely still be wary of it Smiley smile

Idk if it's the color or the feel of "gunk" on his face, (that's what my fh hates), but either way, a stain makes your lips feel completely bare. I love Burt's Bees, and my FH thinks it's a dirty trick that I play on him, kissing him and then his lips tingle Smiley tongue
