Limousine

Can someone tell me what the traditions are with limousines and such? (My ceremony and reception are in different locations.) Obviously, the bride and groom have to travel to the ceremony separately so we don’t see each other before the wedding begins. Do the groomsmen & bridesmaids both get their own limo? Do parents of the bride/groom ride in the limo too? What happens when we leave the church as a married couple- how does seating in limos work then?

I don't think there are any 'traditions,' more so preferences... I know when my parents got married, my mom and her dad went in one car. My dad and the bridal party went in another limo. I think it's all dependent on what you can afford. I've seen those big party buses where the mom/parents of groom, bridal party and groom can fit...

It's whatever you prefer, but I was in a wedding where we went to the wedding with the bride in a limo. Her H went to the wedding with his GMs. After the wedding, the couple took one limo and the entire BP took the other one to the reception. If you can fit your parents, I think that's good. Especially if you are having one of them walk you down the aisle, you can make sure you both arrive at the same time. I've seen people do a different limo for BP and family. I'm getting ready at my venue, but I did get a van for FH, his GMs and his parents.

To cut costs we’re renting one limo. It’ll take me and the BMs and our mothers to the ceremony site for pics. It’ll go back and pick up FH and his GM. After the ceremony it’ll take just FH and I to the reception. BP will take the shuttle back to the hotel where the reception is or ride with their SO. It’s not ideal, but it wasn’t in the budget to pay for two limos.

We are renting 2 limos and a vintage car. The groomsmen will head to the church from the hotel first and that same limo will return to pick up the bridesmaids. When the bridesmaids leave in limo 1, our families will also head to the church in like 2. My dad and I will ride in the vintage car. On the way back to the reception, the bridesmaids and groomsmen will take limo 1, family in like 2, me and my groom in the vintage car. Thank God my mom is a genius with logistics!

We hired a vintage car to transport the bridal party and me to the church. DH and his brother/BM drove together with his family. After the ceremony, DH and me were transported to the reception in the vintage car, and everyone else drove back with their SOs/spouses.
