Angel, on July 1, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 5
Hey ladies! I’m 75 days away from getting married and this bride is stressing! Did anyone NOT have lighting at their reception?? How was it?? My DJ does not come with lighting, and the groom and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and lighting does not fit into our budget. Help!!

I'm glad you asked this question because i'm not having lighting either and I've had my share of panic attacks as well.

I would discuss with your photographer about your worries so they come prepared. If your venue is inside then ask them to dim the lights or only put on a certain set of lights once the reception starts. Make use of candles, which provide a nice romantic feel. A lot of people are bothered by the tinted lights and strobe lights so there may be a sigh of relief that people aren't bombarded with pulsing lights in their faces for four hours straight.

Don't forget that for decades people had beautiful receptions and pictures and didn't have special lighting either. I'm sure it will be fine.

Are you referring to uplighting? If so, those look nice but are in no way shape or form necessary to have a beautiful reception. it'll be fine! As mentioned above, just make sure your photographer knows so he comes prepared with the proper equipment.

RentMyWedding.com! They only charge $25 per cordless uplight which you can set to any color (free shipping both ways). They also offer monogram lighting, drapes, etc. We rented uplights from them and it was so easy!

I did but my DJ had it included but I don't really think you need it anyway it's just one of those things that adds but doesn't mean you need it

I don't think its a necessity at all. Our venue charges 350 for uplighting which I found laughable.
