Lighting - Yay or Nay

Michelle, on September 12, 2020 at 9:54 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 13
Hola ladies,

So we're in the final stretch and still trying to decide if we want to add some fun lighting for the reception. I've heard that sometimes the colored disco lights cause issues with your your photos and we certainly don't want that. I also see people changing the look of their venue by adding the colored uplighting but I'm struggling to pick a color. Our colors are emerald green and burnt orange. I don't want an orange or green room lol. What are you guys doing? Did you miss it at your wedding or are you glad you brought a little something extra to the party?
Side note: Our venue already comes with installed white uplighting. We're also having an evening wedding so it will be dark. Thinking of adding cafe lighting! Maybe 🤷🏾‍♀️ Lighting - Yay or Nay 1Lighting - Yay or Nay 2

Amber uplighting would be beautiful with your color scheme! And where white uplighting can be very cold and bold (think movie premiere instead of wedding), Amber uplighting is a softer, warmer color. It photographs beautifully and makes your skin look gorgeous!

I like pp's suggestion for amber lighting.

i personally didn't do uplighting but i know it can really change the feel of the venue with it

Amber, peach, etc up lighting will make your pictures warm, which is very easily edited if you don't like it, but I think up lighting in dim venues is a must if you can swing it. It adds an overall beautiful diffuse and even light. Amber (as suggested above) or peach will look like a natural incandescent glow.
