Lighten or Dye Satin Shoes - have you actually done this at home, please advise.....

Anonymous, on April 1, 2012 at 4:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 1

I have a pair of satin sling back heels that are a cream color and my dress is bright white. I'd like to lighten the shoes, either with bleach, hydrogen peroxide, or other. Or, I would consider dyeing them light blue. Do any of you have personal experience in doing this at home? I have read many sites on this subject, but would like to hear from actual brides. If I don't do it at home, where could I take these already purchased shoes to have them lightened or dyed? They are a cheap pair of shoes I already had, would work great (except for the color), and are very COMFORTABLE. Suggestions, please. Thank you!!!

Check with your local shoe repair shops (cobblers) -- some of them dye shoes. I don't think you can go lighter, but you can go darker.
