Liberty of the Seas

Alexa, on April 20, 2018 at 12:49 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

Hello,

I believe we are doing a cruise for our honeymoon on Liberty of the Seas through Royal Caribbean, but we are not sure whether to do a suite or a balcony room? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would do balcony. Its pretty and you don't have to share like you do on the deck.

We're doing a balcony on Anthem of the Seas for our honeymoon.

If money is not a big deal then go for the suite! FH and I didn't find upgrading to the suite necessary. There is so much to do on our ship, and it is my first cruise. We aren't planning on spending too much extra time in our room besides sleeping and other honeymoon activities Smiley smile , but we did want the option of having a quiet, intimate breakfast together on the balcony if we wanted.

ETA: We also have other financial obligations this year, and couldn't really go overboard (no pun intended) for the honeymoon. We got a great deal on our cruise.

We are cruising on Allure of the Seas and went with a balcony. The rooms are pretty big compared to the interior cabins, and I'm looking forward to sitting out on our balcony.

If you've never been on a cruise before I'd suggest a balcony. If you get sick some times the inner cabins make you feel worse, and being able to look out a window helps a lot! And, not that you'd be spending a lot of time in your room (hopefully) but the balcony rooms are usually a little bigger.

To clarify, are you talking about a (multiroom) suite or a cabin room without a balcony with either no window or a port window?

If you need a whole lot of room, treat yourself and upgrade to the suite, but I don't think it is really necessary. Balcony rooms are lovely. I love to be able to sit outside and watch the sights as we pull into port or have coffee or a cocktail on the balcony. It's lovely. You probably won't be spending much time in your room so a single room is just fine. If you have never been on a cruise before or have fears of seasickness, I suggest the balcony as you get more light and air.

Definitely get a room with a balcony. Interior cabins are no fun. Does the suite you're considering have a balcony? If you have the money you could do a suite with a balcony, but I do think there is a need. I've been on four cruises. You barely spend any time in your room.

(glad you went with Royal Caribbean. Smiley smile I work for an architecture firm and we design performance and public spaces for Royal.)

We've always gotten balcony rooms, the balcony suites are nice, just a bit roomier but not necessarily where I'd spend the money.

We're going on anthem! I love royal Caribbean!

I'm not sure the rooms go interior, ocean view, balcony, then suite. We said no to the interior and the ocean view (because I think that means the view is through porthole). Then the next two are the balcony then the suite. Honestly we're just worried about room since we've never been on a cruise.

We are doing a Norwegian Cruise and went all out. They have Haven Suites.. the complete package.. your own area on the boat, own pool area & restaurants only accessible to Haven Guests, priority boarding, etc. It is our honeymoon so we took the upgrade! We also have access to the spa!

With a Suite you get more perks and amenities than you do getting a standard balcony room, so I would suggest taking a look at all the extras the suite comes with and decide if you want those or can live without them.

Honestly I’d just do a balcony. It’s a nice size and there is SO much to do on the ship so it’s not like you need a ton of room in a suite. My parents just went on a RC cruise (and we’re going on one for our honeymoon!) and here are photos of their balcony

A balcony room is big enough for 2 people. But it doesn't feel luxury. We got a suite on the last cruise we went on and it was nice to have the extra room. If you plan on going out on the ship every day then a balcony is great. If you plan on spending more time in your room a suite is the way to go.

I'm generally satisfied with a balcony as I spend little time in the room. I do *need* a balcony though.
You should always book a cruise with a travel agent (you're paying them anyway), so what do they think? I've found them super helpful even about things where you expect them to always recommend spending more.

Why should you always book a cruise with a travel agent?
I did this time around to support a friend (it’s his sister) but she literally did nothing except take my information over the phone and select the room. I actually had a better discount on my own as a crown and anchor member but she was able to match when I told her.
I know we’ll get some sort of honeymoon gift from her but it definitely felt like it’s only worth having a TA if you’re not internet savvy and don’t know anything about cruising. She also didn’t actually put on our reservation that we were honeymooning *facepalm* which got me mad because I’ve had friends who get gifts from RC itself when they cruise for special occasions. And since she booked it I can’t edit it.

FH took Liberty of the Seas last summer and got a balcony. The room was the perfect size for the two of us. The ship had so many fun things going on that we were really only in the room at night. Have the balcony was amazing as it allowed us to get ready looking out on the ocean. Save the money from the suite and either book a nice couples massage or go on a more extravagant excursion!

They get paid on the backend by the cruise line, not a commission based on your ticket. So, whether or not you use one you are paying for it. A bad travel agent will do what your friend's sister did and just take your info, but it won't have cost you anything. A good travel agent will match you with the best cruise and room, based on knowledge and experience, as well as get you some little extras you didn't even know you could get.

Good to know! So in the future you’d recommend using a travel agent with RC?
Granted, I really love planning, so I wouldn’t really want a TA to decide on a cruise for me unless I was doing something really different (that i don’t have knowledge of) like a European cruise. I also know they can be useful in helping secure the type of balcony you want - as the Harmony and Symphony have balconies that just look out to the Central Park area and aren’t an ocean view.

Tried a balcony room the first time last summer and it was so worth it! I’m sure the extra spacing is nice within a suite but I don’t think it’s necessary for a cruise. I’m also going with a balcony for my RC honeymoon!

I’m surprised suites don’t come with balconies. I rather have the balcony and my own private place to enjoy the view with coffee or a cocktail.
