Lgbt-friendly honeymoon locations?

Sarah, on August 30, 2019 at 1:51 PM Posted in Honeymoon 2 9
I’m researching honeymoon locations and while I think the Caribbean would be ideal, I’m worried about traveling to some places on our honeymoon as a queer couple—I don’t want to have to worry about whether or not we can hold hands, you know?

I've done some homework and the ABC islands seem to be very queer-friendly, but also /very/ expensive. Do any queer brides have any suggestions for where we could have a relaxed, food-and-drink heavy beach vacation on a budget?

This was a big concern for us as well. The only place I've found that is a definite no no is Jamaica. Mexico is beautiful and budget friendly!

I'm so sorry you're even having to worry about this! It makes me so sad how hateful people can be. I second Mexico as Caytlyn said!

So sad you even have to worry about this. I highly recommend Palm Springs, California if you wanted to stay in the States

I was at a resort in the DR for my honeymoon in July, and we met several same sex couples. That may be a place to look into. If you are interested in the ABC islands, check out AirBnB! My husband's family and I went there a few years ago and rented a house on Airbnb for way less than a hotel, cooked a lot of our own meals, etc. The resorts are crazy expensive, but you may be able to find a nice condo or something!

Maybe look into Puerto Rico. I've never been but I know many people love it. It also may be a bit more affordable because of the unfortunate hurricane. They have rebuilt a lof though.

We are going to Curacao in the ABC islands, partly for this reason.

It's also pretty affordable during the right months! https://travel.usnews.com/rankings/best-affordable-caribbean-destinations/

My FW and I took an early honeymoon to Mexico, which I definitely recommend! We went to Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City.

PV is SUPER LGBT friendly, and we were there for the pride parade which was awesome. If you go, save money for a restaurant called El Kliff. The beaches were chill, the food is great, the bars are fun. Has a great vibe overall and our airbnb was very affordable for two people who are recent grads/aka broke.

Mexico City was also great, but no beaches so not what you're looking for perhaps.

I would recommend the Bahamas but it doesn't look to good right now for them. The western Mediterranean is beautiful ( Mexico, Hondaras, Costa Maya, Belize, Cancun)! I also recommend the southern carribbean. I believe that's St. Kitts, San Juan, St. Martin's... Etc. I love the Carribbeans! It's beautiful, very relaxing, and fun!
