Hey, fam! Josh and Jian here. Our story started back in 2012 in Shanghai. I (Josh) was living and working overseas and came across this cutie Smiley love who stole my heart. He’s sweet, patient, caring, kind, and a big nerd...I like smart dudes.

Since then we’ve sailed stormy seas together and last year we decided to it to the next level and get married Smiley ring . I petitioned for Jian’s K1 visa (think 90 Day Fiance) and we have booked The Hacienda for our October 5, 2019 wedding.

We want to share our Smiley heart and happiness with you all.

Share your stories and your wedding plans with us. We need ideals!

(Non-LGBT welcomes too!)

I've always liked the look of two different suits for two grooms. It's a matter of taste, but I think identical suits are sort of boring.

I really like that second pic you posted. Jian wants something similar to the left suit in the first pic.

Our colors black and red, so I’m not so certain how we’re going to work in that blue. But I’m thinking of going with a similar material.

Its time to hit pinterest and a diet lol

This was my original idea. Two suits but tied together.

Usually, Jian is all about individuality and expression...now he wants us matchy matchy while. We’ve completely swapped views. Normally I’m the one who wants to match. Now I want my own suit! Haha

Congrats! My future wife and I met in high school. We are doing a gold and silver theme with some hints of purple. We are also doing fortune cookies with custom messages in them as wedding favors because my fiancée and I love playing the fortune cookie game, and it is something we started doing together before we even got together!

My FH decided he wanted to wear a burgondy suit jacket. After I chose the bridesmaid and groomsmen colors. They don’t mesh with burgundy. At all. I figure we will just make it work somehow. Along with his bobble head wedding cake topper he has to have. 🤦🏼‍♀️😆 Pinterest has got to be the best place to find great wedding day looks. Watch how deep you dive in though! Those Pinterest ideas will devour your wedding budget. Lol.

I love this yay! My partner and I met at work 5 years ago and got engaged last November at a state park after a beautiful and terrifying hike! We’re in Austin, TX and getting married next March at an outdoor venue a little ways outside of Austin. I’m encountering all sorts of LGBT related questions and issues - mostly related to how to find/afford/alter men’s suits for bride and bridesmaid, working with vendors to understand what we want, and navigating family member’s wishes when it comes to the traditional aspects of the wedding ceremony that we don’t want - thankfully no major problems! I’d love to know some other couples getting married.

One of the motivators for going with the venue we did is because they are LGBT friendly and even promote it.

our dj came recommended by the venue, but I think we might be his first gay wedding. He made one small mistake with asked me if we’re having a bridal party which I didn’t get since he knew we are gay, but other than that I really liked him.

I have been making it a point to ask if they're gay friendly. For the most part it has been a positive experience.

    Congratulations!!

My fiance and I went to the same college but he graduated before me. I was in the military before going back to school and was short after going through a divorce. When I tell you it's the best thing that ever happened to me!

We're getting married in Hawaii with immediate family and our wedding party. Maybe just a dinner reservation afterward and then spend the rest of the week going on adventures and different activities around the island. Our ceremony will have some Hawaiian traditions as well. I'm so excited!!

Congratulations!! We are history buffs. FH and I are having a small, intimate destination wedding at a historic mansion in Natchez, Mississippi. We'll mini-moon thru Christmas then have a big, black-tie reception in the Spring. Keep us updated. Wedding planning is hard, but worth every tear and sweat droplet. ❤

This is awesome! My wife & I's wedding date is also October 5th 2019! We were married in July of 2017. So, we're reaching our two year mark, and it has been amazing! We got married in Vegas and didn't have our families around so we're having a do over! We've been together since I was 17 and she was 20! We're 23 and 25 now. We're going to have a nice ceremony and reception in our hometown in Louisiana (we currently live in Vegas). We really just want something for everyone to remember! I think it's really important that LGBT people have weddings so that people see that we all want the same things! So excited for you guys.

Congratulations Josh and Jian! My gorgeous fiancé Lindsey and I actually met in college. It was her senior and my sophomore year and I thank God for work study other wise I would’ve missed my chance. I heard Lindsey running across campus, and followed her butt with my eyes to the mailroom 😂. I went there everyday 4 days straight until she approached me because of course I was not going to make the first move. She asked where I was from and coincidentally we were both from DC. I told her my birthday was that following Friday and I didn’t hear from her again until then. She popped up on my bestfriend’s car and said happy birthday pretty girl. She gave me money and we went to get food. From there she rode home with me for thanksgiving for us to learn that we lived 10 minuets away from each other here in DC. We have been living together pretty much since that day almost 6 years ago. We had a seperation period but even then we never really came apart...probably why she decided to pop the question anyway and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her!

P.S Here’s a throwback picture to give you a visual

Heyyyyyyyy! First off, congratulations to the both of you! I love your wedding ideas. My fiancé and I are getting married on August 18th, 2019 in Charlotte, NC. Our theme is A Walk to Remember and our colors are blue, ivory, and gold. We are doing a DIY wedding and surprisingly it has been a smooth wedding process! I think the only thing we forgot to get was a Cake 🤦🏾‍♀️. Happy planning!

    Hey Josh & Jian,

Congratulations to you both! I am always amazed at how powerful love is. Cheers to all the effort you guys went through together. I am a civil wedding celebrant and get to play a small role in a lot of straight and LGBT love stories. Believe me; there is no better joy than being able to witness a love story work out into a picture perfect dream.

The Hacienda comes with such an interesting back story, doesn’t it? Given the fact that there are only four months left for your big day, you guys must have a million task at hand right now. Keep calm and do not forget to make time for yourself on your busy wedding day. I tell you this from my own experience!
