Letting groom pick out his and groomsmen's suits

Finally mrs.jkr, on September 7, 2014 at 6:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

FH was kind of disappointed that my outfit is a secret and his isn't.... So I decided that it's only fair that I let him choose whatever color he wants (since the bridesmaid dress color would look good with anything). My only requirements were that the groomsmen have neutral colored ties and that he lets me see his tie color since I want to coordinate a green silk scarf of the same color around my bouquet (he really wants a green tie).

He made jokes about a purple tux, but I know it's super important to him to look classy and timeless for our wedding, and I'm actually looking forward to having a surprise of my own on our wedding day. Is anyone else doing this/have done this? What was it like if you did it?

Fh will be choosing his as well, I already know it wont be black, but I specifically requested no silver or bold colors. He likes tan/gray, but I will be choosing his tie.

I let mine choose, but I went with him. The lady kept asking me the questions, though - but I deferred to him! I chose nothing!

If I did this, FH would likely come back with camo's and a cut off shirt. I do trust him on a lot of things... but fashion is NOT one of them.

I picked them out. We bought suits for FH and BM from Macy's on sale. The only scary part was that it was online and we were worried about fit.

FH is choosing his and the GM tuxedos as well. The only thing I requested:

    1. They are a dark color (any color of his choice)

    2. They wear a vest and not wear cummerbunds (I hate them)

FH is picking his out, he has better fashion sense then I do and likes the classic black so I'm not worried at all!

FH will be picking out his and the groomsmen attire. I plan on giving him a color swatch of the bridesmaids dresses so that the colors match.

FH picked out their suit styles. I didn't need any say. He asked me to go with him when he chose them. The employee kept asking me as well and I had FH answer the questions without me. I wanted him to have a say in what he and his guys are wearing. It's his day too and later on he told me he appreciated me not trying to pick out every little detail for their attire.

FH went ahead and got his outfitas well as the GMs. He i out of state and i wanted home to have it sooner than later due to work issues and itll bemr hectic! He should have a say in what he's wearing. My view its that its his wedding too! LOL i just said no crazy colors. I wont see it til the wedding which is stressful but sweet. I look at it as though, he didnt pick my dress, icant controll too much of his attire

I tried to let them not wear jackets, but FH said no way. So he has told me he wants the whole things and in black. Other than that I try to get him to choose things and he just says "whatever you want honey" I think that's his wedding mantra

I am still stuck on "letting the groom" choose what he wears.... He SHOULD choose his outfit, didn't you choose your dress without him?

My fh is choosing... But I made one requirement... no white tuxes (personal preference). Smiley smile He chose the color for the wedding, so I trust he'll make good decisions lol.

For me it was the opposite, because I saw him when we went to pick out his tux and the GM tux, he then came into the room and saw my dress when I brought it home a couple days before the wedding. lol

If you're fine with your plan then go with it. It shouldn't matter who picked out the tuxes.

I let my DH pick the guy's attire. He selected the classic black tux, different color bow ties that match the girl's dresses (they had different colors), suspenders, and black and white wingtip shoes. Not exactly what I would have picked out, but it made him happy and they all looked great.
