Let's talk sweat!

Kristen, on June 28, 2017 at 6:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I'm looking for any thoughts/advice on sweating...or should I say, how not to sweat? I love to dance and plan on dancing a ton on my wedding day, but I sweat from the hair at the top of my forehead on down my face. I don't sweat much under my arms or anywhere else...just my face. Any thoughts on what I can do to minimize this?? I will wear sweat proof/waterproof make-up, but I still would like to avoid the stuff rolling down my cheeks. Smiley smile

Are you using a pro MUA for the wedding? He/she could probably recommend primers or products to use and maybe airbrush makeup as opposed to traditional. I would ask them, they should definitely be able to help you out!

Ask your MUA if they can use a setting spray on you. My fav is by Skindinavia. They have a bridal version!

Can't really help with solutions for not sweating while dancing. It's natural! Maybe keep a handkerchief with you? Good thing to keep for tears/sweat, especially if you have pockets in your dress. Or ask your FH to keep extra on him.

Does your venue have A/C? You could ask your DOC or on-site manager if they can lower the A/C temp during the dancing portion.

@Trang, our reception will be outside. Hopefully it will be a nice evening!

@Alexandra and Trang, thanks for the makeup suggestions. I will definitely talk to my MUA. I was just thinking (hoping really) that there'd be something out there that would stop the sweat....wishful thinking. Smiley winking

@Kristen have you googled common side effects of any medications you're on? Maybe talk to your doctor if you suspect one of your medications is causing it. Also consult your dermatologist to see if you're a good candidate for Botox to prevent face sweat.

Dude I have the same issue. Like I will leave weddings (or whatever) after dancing for hours and my hair will literally be soaked, not to mention my face. I'll be asking my MUA to set me and I'll also have a handkerchief or something to dab my face with. Frustrating.

@alexandria I hadn't thought about the side effects...I will definitely check! I've thought about the botox thing, too...will have to ask my doc.

    1) Make sure your MUA is using a good quality makeup primer and allowing enough time between primer and foundation applications for it to set.

    2) Try doing a patch-test of clear or solid deodorant along (but not in) your hairline. See if it causes any breakouts or issues. If not, apply this along hairline after primer and before foundation.

    3) Use dry shampoo (preferably w/charcoal) along your hairline. This will help absorb oil as well as sweat.

    4) Use a quality setting spray all over your face and making sure it hits your hairline. The best I've ever used is Urban Decay's "All Nighter" makeup setting spray.

    5) Task one of your BM's to be the "lookout" for sweating/makeup issues during your reception and that she's have blotting papers (one' w/rice work best) on hand for you.
