Let's talk spanx!

I wore Spanx and loved them. I got them new discounted on ebay

I wear the shorts style ones by maidenform

I have only worn one type of shape wear and let me say, don't make the mistake I made! I wore like... A full body suit with shorts, and straps... Very wrestler esque. Well I didn't realize that the straps didn't snap off or anything until I was at the wedding I wore them to!

I had to get NAKED to pee! I literally had to take my dress off, and pull the shape wear down to go to the bathroom.

Other than that I have no advice, ha!

Spanx are the best. Many people don't like them because they always get the wrong size (like sizing down so it is tighter and they hold more in), but it is shapwear so you need to order your true size. I also have major thunder thighs (professional dancer, anyone?) so I always get the long legged ones.

ETA spanxs are rated the best, shape wear is like clothing/shoes, you really need to go to a specialty store to get sized and really do research for what you are looking for, and for some dresses, shapwear can have the opposite effect because it will add a pretty thick layer.

@kristy, needless to say I did NOT go to the bathroom the rest of the evening.

I could say that they made me look great, so they do work.

I wore Spanx higher power short in the lightest nude color they make. Made my stomach look super flat for pictures! Mine did not roll down- it has a sticky edge at the top that goes all the way up to your bra line.

I wore Spanx. Honestly, with how much the rest of my outfit cost, the cost of Spanx was a drop in the bucket. And they are nicely made, going down far enough to keep thighs from chafing and up to just under the bustline so that you're not forcing rolls of fat out the top.

@kmc my full body one has a pee flap thing! Hahaha. It's always an adventure (I mean awful).

Try kohls, they put spanx and other shape wear on clearance often, that's where I have bought all of mine

The Higher Power Short spanx has the pee hole just FYI

I got a corset-y styled one a couple years ago. It is very smoothing and slimming! The only downside is the seaming on the front of it is very prominent in thinner clothing. I have not tried it with my dress, but I don't plan on wearing it anyway.
