Hi all! So me and DH have been married 8 years. We plan to renew our vows during a black tie ceremony and reception in May of next year because when we got married (at 18, and 19) we really couldnt do a big bash recpetion and we’ve recently been through a major struggle and came through it, so we’d like to do a renewal. Anyway- so it came down to the “should I upgrade?” Question. We’ve already done it once a couple years ago because my original set got lost in a flood. Well I’ve decided that instead of upgrading, I’d like to downgrade to my original e-ring that he popped the question with when he was 17! Smiley smile I know that may sound nuts to some of you but there is a ton of sentiment in it for me because I haven’t seen my original ring in close to 6 years. Wal-Mart is where he purchased it and I found the same exact ring (12 years later mind you!) and it’s only $277! I’m so excited I could scream lol. I’d love to see y’alls petite, delicate e-rings! Let’s see them!!

    My e-ring is .5 carats, though I don't think its "petite" as you say. I have slim and slender fingers and bigger diamonds looked out of place and gaudy on my fingers. I love my band because FH designed it himself by picking the stone and setting.     Mine is a .5 carat as well! When "casually" sending ring pics to my FH before we were engaged there were always 3 factors: nothing over a carat, rose gold, and sapphires- he nailed it with all 3. I love my ring and despite some less than pleasant remarks I couldn't be happier with it! I'm also grateful that due to the smaller size of the diamond he was able to get a higher quality one Smiley smile

    Its small and unique, and I love my ring. My only requirement when my fiancé and I started talking was that he not spend over 500 (the idea of wearing something more "flashy" and the possibility of losing it was too scary, lol).

    True love and sentimentality have nothing to do with the size of the ring. A large diamond exchanged between two people in love is just as sentimental.

    The rest on this thread are beautiful too. And, I agree, big or small - the size of the ring has nothing to do with the love between two people.

    Thank you! We’re trying to simplify our lives and the idea of getting my old one back (in a sense) made me so happy to think about. I can still see him all shaky down on one knee. He grew up Amish so he didn’t really know how to “propose” so he just left the ring out on the table and I turned around and he was down on one knee and all he said was “well, will ya?!” 😍

    Oh I absolutely agree. It’s not the size of the rock that signifies anything for me. It’s the simplicity of it and the idea that it being “smaller” takes me back to when we were young and fresh out of the gate with little resources for a large rock.

    AWWWW!! That sounds so sweet!! When my husband proposed to me we were on our way down south to Sussex County Delaware to visit my family for a reason I can't remember because I moved up to be with him upper MD in November of 2017, we got engaged on December 1, 2017. He asked me to marry him in his truck as we were riding down!! It doesn't matter the size of the ring all that matters is the love that the 2 of you share!! I also had to go through 3 different engagement rings before this last one because they all kept changing color on me they were all suppose to be sterling silver but I guess they weren't but this one is the real deal cause it hasn't changed color!!

    I believe mine is a third of a carat? I think it’s .38? I’m not sure! If I ever did anything I would keep this stone, I would only ever get a thinner band probably- I love solitaire

    Mine is around 3/4 of a carat and I love the size. I have short squatty fingers so a bigger diamond I think would look weird on me lol. FH actually upgraded the size of the diamond when he was working with the jeweler which I was definitely ok with.

    Absolutely go back to your original ring if you want to. I think its a very sweet idea. I am very attached to my ring 😁 and I understand wanting to go back.

    My fiance designed my engagement ring. Its just over .5 but like one girl mentioned, I have small hands and anything bigger would have looked out of place. Its rose gold with tiny pave diamonds swirling up the side, if you cant tell from the pictures. I think its perfect. 😊

    The center stone is 0.5 and I think total it's right around a carat. FH sometimes makes comments about wishing he'd gotten a bigger ring but I LOVE it and honestly wouldn't want anything bigger.
