Vendors are constantly in competition, so they are used to getting turned down by clients. Keep your message short and sweet and thank them for their time and the information they provided. Just don't not reach out... I personally think that isn't polite.

"We decided to go in a different direction with our wedding, thank you for meeting with us."

I'm all about the "different direction" wording - it's what I used for all the vendors we ultimately didn't go with. It somehow feels nicer to me than straight up saying that you're picking someone else.

I agree. This is the wording we used as well to let vendors know we weren't using them.

We had to do this for one of our videographer choices. I thanked him for his time but let him know I was going a different route. He was very kind about it and wished us the best!
