Less than 2 month to plan wedding? Help!

Hey y’all, my fiancé and I have decided we want to get married at Philadelphia City hall. We live in Delaware and it’s absolutely breathtaking! Only problem... If you are not familiar, Philadelphia city hall has a weird timing set up for choosing your wedding date. You have to visit 2x prior to choosing your wedding date which can only be done the first or second a Tuesday of the month PRIOR to your wedding. Example, we are looking to get married end of April 2020 so we would have to apply for our date March 3rd or 10! Being as though the venue is the most important to secure In not sure how we can go about getting a space that late. For background, we are only looking to book a private room in a restaurant for 20-30 guests for the “reception” as we want something intimate but I’m just worried about availability... as well as having to cram invites, hiring a baker, etc into a month and a half!!! I’m freaking out and our hearts are set on city hall! Any advice/guidance on what we can do in the mean time or how to go about securing a venue would be TREMENDOUSLY

Have you considered just Doing a self solemnization instead? I’m pretty sure Pennsylvania allows this, I recommend you research more in depth with the state’s marital laws regarding this subject.

I recommend you research your options with indoor venues owned by the city. They are usually pretty affordable.

We did consider doing the “Quaker wedding” but we couldn’t think of a location... and the restraint didn’t seem like the most appropriate place

You'll have to be flexible on the restaurant. A private dining room for 20 people doesn't tend to get booked up a year in advance the way a formal wedding venue does. But if you don't know when your date is, you can never be sure whether your first choice venue will happen to get booked.

So get information on several private dining rooms that would work for you. Find out costs, menus, etc. Then the moment you know your date, call around until one of them has your date available.

As far as invitations go, hand write them. You can write all the addresses up and put on the stamps ahead of time. And write all of the invitation except the date, the place of the reception, and the RSVP date. As soon as you have those things, you can finish the invitations quickly and drop them in the mail.

As far as a bakery goes, think about just having the restaurant make the cake for you. It may not be the most ornate of cakes. But they can probably do something nice, and it will be a lot simpler than trying to deal with an outside bakery.

And breathe. Corporate meetings are often set up in private dining rooms with only a few weeks' notice. So this isn't impossible; it just involves getting everything that doesn't depend on the date and place (e.g., getting your dress if you want one) done early, so you can focus on the things that need to be last minute as they come up.
