Length of ceremony

Carissa Brittney, on March 6, 2017 at 7:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

Curious! How long was your ceremony?! I've been to a catholic wedding and then a few other ceremonies and they all seem to vary significantly. In my mind, I'm thinking about 25 mins but we haven't planned out our ceremony timeline with officiant yet.

My ceremonies beginning to end run 20 to 25 minutes. A lot of this depends on the size of wedding party and inclusion of unity ceremonies. Most of my couples want to give the ceremony it's due time but don't want their guests to have to sit for too long. Nor does anyone want to have to stand for too long. Your officiant will give you a better idea when you go over your script. Best wishes!

Mine was about 20 min. I had a Catholic wedding, but we did the absolute bare bones - no mass, no offering to Mary, no unity candle, no extra songs. We just had one processional song for a small wedding party, two readings, intercessions, all the blessings and talks from the priest, and the recessional. What are you considering including in your ceremony? I'm sure your officiant can give you an estimate of how long what you want will take.

We had a full Episcopal service with Communion and it was an hour. I know the trend is for very short ceremonies but personally I refused to rush through the most important part of the day (and one of the most important moment of our lives, tbh). However, the content/length of the ceremony is a very personal decision and is completely up to the couple, so do whatever works for you!

Depends if you're having a mass with your ceremony. We will be having a full mass so ours will be close to an hour- there's also just the option of a ceremony which is typically 25-30 min. Entirely up to you! Talk to your priest/officiant about what you want. Smiley smile

Mine will probably be about 15-20 minutes. We are not having any unity ceremonies or any religious aspects to it.

Ours will be short, sweet, and to the point - about 20 minutes. I'm not familiar with Catholic proceedings, so I'm not help there!

Orthodox wedding, so about 45 mins-1 hr. Which will go upwards if the Bishop end up coming to our wedding. ..

Estimating 10-15 minutes. I do sort of with it was a teensy bit longer since that's the important part of the day anyway, but I'm also staunchly against adding unnecessary filler JUST to draw things out.

Ours will be 30-40 minutes. We aren't having a full catholic mass but I refuse to rush through the most important part of the day. Our ceremony is in the same location anyways. Ceremony starts at 5pm and we aren't allowed to move into the other room and officially start cocktail hour until 6pm.

Ours will be a full catholic mass, about an hour because I'm part of the music ministry and we will be singing a few favorite hymns and not rushing anything.

FH is Polish, in his culture many folks actually skip the ceremony and only attend the reception. I know our American guests won't, and I know it may be a bit longer than some would prefer. But the religious traditions have meaning for us. We couldn't see skipping them. We'll provide some information for guests to read about the traditions while they're sitting there and hope for the best.

Ours was 11 minutes, from the entrance of MOG and FOG to exit of the last BM/GM. It was perfect.

We have a JP. We're doing a candle lighting, our own vows, and FH is smashing the glass (I'm Jewish). The JP expects the ceremony to be 12-15 minutes.

We are having a catholic wedding. FH is not confirm catholic so we choose not to have a full mass. The Deacon told us it would only take 20 minutes but I hoping to draw it out to 30 minutes.
