Like thousands of couples all over the world, we were forced to cancel our April 18 destination wedding due to COVID-19. We were crushed but fortunate that the hotel in Puerto Rico refunded 100 percent of our deposits and refunded all of our guests. Then we decided we would get married locally in August. To this day, we still haven’t been able to see the venue because we’ve been on shelter in place for 12 weeks. So we pushed our date to October. Then our governor issued an executive order to allow counties to issue virtual marriage licenses. A light bulb went off: we don’t just want a wedding; we want to be married! So we applied for one of the limited number of licenses being issued in our county, and we’re getting married next Friday! A local hotel has social distance wedding packages and a few of our loved ones will join us in person. Over 200 friends and family will join us on Zoom! I am so excited to be marrying the man of my dreams - the man I still LIKE after 12 weeks in quarantine! 😍😆.
Keep your heads up and remember that your union is the most important thing!
